Bodegas Castro Martin

Martin Woods

Hyland Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

This really does have Chambolle character. See Lyle’s notes. Light in color, bright, some tea notes but for the most part beautiful fruit, touch cherry, raspberry, citrus… and very soft tannins - days later under my Argon line- faint prune plum. Wouldn’t age this - it is perfect now! — a day ago

Solid wine. Comes across very fruity and smooth. Complexity and tannins are faded. Really nice fruit. Highly enjoyable with food or on its own. — 15 days ago

Solar de Castro Vendimia Seleccionada Rioja Tempranillo 2020

Dry farmed! Color of blood. Or a bruised plum. Smells like Spanish red. Wood shavings. Berry-cherry pies. Menthol. Flavors are dense and on point. Plenty of woodsy stuff in the mouth too. Just a little fennel. Black cherries. Tannins are tongue drying and pleasant. Hint of licking a sharpened pencil tip perhaps. This is classic Rioja with all the trimmings. — 3 months ago
