Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Hmm. 🤔 wasn’t able to connect with this, expectingly great wine. Actually first direct out of the bottle it was promising. Strong oak notes with vibrant dark red fruit underneath it. But over the next hour, the oak flavors started to be integrated more but the acidity became very prominent and made the wine rather single note, diluted, lacking depth, acidic tasting. So needless to say. Disappointing experience. Maybe it was not the right day 🤔. — 15 hours ago

Great recommendation from the guy at the local wine shop.

45+ minute decant. Dark red color. Cigars, ash, dark red fruit, and some cedar on the nose. Medium plus depth and integrated finish. Paired nicely with burgers.

Cain Five Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2018

2018 vintage. Blockbuster nose with a pleasant amount of brett. Lean but as concentrated as ever throughout and on the finish. If you’re looking to drive a Napa Plushy De Ville cab, hit another dealership. 6.21.24. — 12 days ago

Harlan Estate

The Maiden Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

#AgedWineTuesday

Deep Inky in color with a short purple rim. Looks very young.

Soft nose of black fruits, cedar, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco leaf, light black pepper, earth, herbs and black tea.

Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 14 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa feels very young. Rich and powerful. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

Great right out of the bottle, and tightened up after 2 hours of in the decanter. Probably needed a longer decant, but it finished too quickly.

This Single Vineyard will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Wine Advocate 92 points.

Tasty and enjoyable by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with a big piece of steak

14.5% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$300.

Bolgheri Sassicaia Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc 2007

Finally had my a-ha moment with this wine (after opening a 16 too early). 07 was just beautiful - kept growing in stature over the 3 hour meal. Drank in Venice to celebrate our anniversary. — 23 days ago

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2000

Opened the evening prior at 7pm and double-decanted; the bottle was left at room temp with the cork pressed lightly back into the neck until service. The 2000 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core and a slightly water rim; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous and showing some real power with a compelling combination of ripe and desiccated fruit: dark brambles, cassis, leather, dill, olives, spiced meat, tobacco and soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and whoa is it ever delicious. This has to be one of the wines of the vintage. Drink now through 2040. — 9 days ago

Isosceles Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2019 “Isosceles” pours a deep ruby color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark brambles, crème de cassis, tobacco, Fresno chilis, Mexican chocolate, dry earth and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a big, powerful wine but it’s fairly balanced. I would drink now though it probably wouldn’t struggle to see past 2029. — 18 days ago

Marchesi Antinori

Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

Super Tuscan at its peak, just beginning to show brickish color on the rim but intense ruby for the most part. The nose starts of with wet forest and red roses and opens to opulent dark berries then wet wood and even wet leather. Palate has persistent fruit throughout with hints of vanilla, polished tannins and bright acidity with a long balanced finish. — 3 days ago
