Château Graves De Marchesseau

Château Coutet

Sauternes-Barsac Sémillon Blend

Paul K
9.2

This is the third Sauternes I’ve ever had. The first two were crazy good d’Yquems. This was gifted open so I thought we could try tonight with dinner. Didn’t have high expectations but really pleasantly surprised!
Pairing really great with the salad I whipped up. Pretty proud of it actually; quinoa, tomato, cucumber, steamed broccoli, mixed greens, chicken, and poppyseed dressing.

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Delectable Wine
9.6

The 2016 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is consistent with previous bottles. It soars from the glass with those (to use a word I used last time) disarming array of blackberry, iris and fig aromas, but displaying a little more blue fruit than I recall. The palate is very well balanced with a velvety texture, pure with just a hint of black pepper. Interestingly, the 65% whole bunches are barely noticeable, just a guiding hand that shapes the finish. Sapid yet tender, this is an outstanding Pessac-Léognan. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the Icons of Bordeaux dinner at Legacy Records in New York. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2024)

Château d'Yquem

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 1986

Orange tinged gold colour . Very fruit driven still , lots of yellow fruits , crystallised orange peel , clementines , vanilla , spiced apricots . On the palate quite rich and decadent , lots of ripe yellow fruits , apricot , peach and then mandarin and caramelised orange . Touches of honey , vanilla , creme brûlée. Slightly bitter caramel tinged finish , with good vibrant acidity, balanced alcohol , long and elegant finish . Tastes so young still , maybe having been recorked in 2005 has something to do with that . Drinking well now but will still be perfect in another 20-30 years — 14 days ago

Château Haut-Bailly

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Inky red orange with currants on the nose and palate. Opened up a couple of hours after uncorking with some sweet coconut shavings on top of the red fruits. Will continue to develop. — 17 days ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Unbeatable location and excellent wine list, this one jumped off the page at us. Not surprising as it was our wine of the year in 2022. It’s back with a vengeance in 2024, into the #1 spot again. Smooth, almost creamy, with classic dark fruits (cherry), dark chocolate and earthy, leathery finish. Perfect with our Chateaubriand 👌🏼 — 2 days ago

So little on the nose but the palate is beautiful. Waxiness of the semolina offsets the sauv blanc. White flowers. 2021 — 3 days ago
