Nirvana. You have reached it. Now you can retire and start drinking flavored, carbonated waters 😁. You know, that last component makes a demonstrable difference: the people you share it with. Congratulations. 👏👏

Fave first-growth and the least demonstrative. Let the others shout and gesticulate.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Les Hauts de Smith Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of ripe red fruit, rose petals, dried red flowers and eucalyptus. Red and black cherry/raspberry and boysenberry fruit on the palate along with additional notes of chocolate, toffee, savory spices and mint. Well integrated oak on the long and slightly chewy finish. Rustic, well balanced and beautifully aged. Thanks for sharing this one, Ron B! — 14 days ago

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1964

Decanted prior to service; enjoyed over the course of several hours. This bottle of the 1964 pours a garnet color with significant rim variation; medium viscosity with light staining and significant signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with mostly tertiary notes at this point: cherry fruit leather, actual leather, decomposing log. On the palate, the wine is dry with tannin fully integrated and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. Alive…but this bottle is old and tired. Drink now. — 21 days ago

Château Lanessan

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 1979

Medium light garnet , terracotta with terracotta rim . Quite herbal and cedary, light sous bois , earthy . On the palate this has quite fresh acidity , slightly herbal character, light sous bois and tobacco notes, grafite , quite light tannins . Alright length and balance . Drink now , probably would have been better some years (decade ?) ago . However quite commendable for a difficult vintage from a petit chateau . Tasted at Hedonism Wines , London . — 9 hours ago

What vintage was this? It looks like a beautiful museum piece.

Yeah, I'm still trying to forget Led Zeppelin's performance at Knebworth in 79!

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

From magnum. Medium deep ruby , thin ruby rim . Deep and perfumed , floral with violets , iris , summer fruits , spicy notes and warm embers . Quite rich and ripely fruited , cassis , blackberry , sweet cherry . Good freshness and ripe , very fine tannins . Long and detailed , so elegant on the palate . Balanced Red currant , cassis tinged finish , mineral and saline hints . Come back in 5-10 years will show well over the next 10-15 years . This shows pretty similar to last year , a really elegant and refined edition of this wine. — a month ago
