Haunting and ethereal aromas of roses, tar, leather and so much more. Classic old school pedal to the medal Neb. Smokey and hickory aromas as well. Stunning. Palate is mega juicy and mega structured with amazing purity and depth and just exquisite fruit and lovely length. This has many decades ahead of it and is really a value when compared to what $40 gets you in the Langhe. As this airs i’ll be back. — 2 years ago
This is a specialty here and wow this is really something. Such a glorious and nuanced nose of spice, tree bark, glorious dark black cherries, spicey oak and wonderful violets. It’s super clean, nuanced and multilayered. Great. Palate is fresh, energetic and has superb purity and freshness. Tangy red cherries on the palate, a bit of oak and as always this needs mega air but it’s all there as it always is. Huge structure on this. Elegant and so bright. Awesome length. Needs 5 years.
Day 2 update : 9.4 to 9.6 overnight. Palate is so fresh and energetic. Unreal freshness and purity. Beautiful sweet, silky and cherry fruit. Long, tangy and fresh. Haunting and deep. Wow. Amazing on day 2. — 3 years ago
Très bon blanc. Excellent rapport/qualité prix. Sec (1.5g sucre), légèrement floral, acidité présente mais ‘smooth’. Excellent avec poisson. Recommande avec plat léger. SAQ $15.95 — 7 months ago
Enough age to bring the fruit intensity down a notch, & man that’s some good fruit- emphasis on the cassis & blackberries. Usually not a mega fan of Bordeaux, but this fit the bill for a shared bottle with friends, drink outside on the banks of the Hudson. — a year ago
Love this estate. Poor man’s Petrus. Not really but fun to say Plummy, earth and bittersweet cocoa on the nose. Really complex spices also develop with air. Gorgeous aromas. Really classy. Needs mega air to get going but it’s all there. Palate is rich and rile but with terrific freshness and purity. This is a backwards wine. I forgot how backwards when young a great Bordeaux can be. Superb concentration and easily the most elegant Samion ever. The finish is crazy long and detailed. With so much cassis and elegant tannins that are perfectly integrated with the fruit. This is superb. — 2 years ago
Gorgeous and best JJ ever. Nose is full of mid season cherries, spice, gentle wood shavings from woodshop when one was a kid. Really aromatic and alluring. Really huge spice. So so aromatic and casts a spell on you. Palate is so juicy and full of life. Sweet and sour cherry fruit and big time acids and wonderful structure and purity. This needs mega mega air. The sweetness on the finish and mid is to just die for and then gets tamed by the incredible acidity and mineral spine. — 7 months ago
Really liked it. Not too sweet but fruity and gentle. Very easy to drink. — 2 years ago
2019 vintage. This Rhône vintage is a stone-cold killer. Mega-value/QPR. Lip-smacking with blackberry driving the bus. Only quibble is a lack of spice/tannins but this is so delicious for the price that it’s irrelevant. Best affordable CDP I’ve ever had. Roughly half the price of many standard CDP’s. Probably best in the next 5-7 years tho. Lacks the structure to go the distance. — 3 years ago
