That feeling you get when you open a wine that is in just the right spot…
From our perspective, that is where this Bernard Dugat-Py is at right in this very moment. It has a beautiful balance of fresh black cherry, red currant, kirsch, violet, hibiscus tea, and anise next to clove, cardamom, forest floor, peat moss, fig paste, and mushroom notes.
The palate is singing with bright acidity balanced by the expressive aromas and flavors, medium, fine-grained tannins, and medium alcohol (13% ABV). It has a lingering finish. What a beautiful wine!
It is the 2010 Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin “Cuvée Coeur de Roy” Très Vieilles Vignes, coming from very old, organically-farmed, and low-yielding vines, adding to the concentration of aromas and flavors. It comes from the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits. — a month ago
The bottle had a chip on the lip that was concealed by the foil. (See upper left of photo). There wasn’t any glass released by removing the cap, so the bottle should not have been used. None-the-less, the wine was fine. The color was dark straw. On the nose the caramel aging notes are evident. On the palate more caramel notes along with oak, lemon, molasses, ginger, burnt sugar, and minerals. Medium bodied, high acid, medium alcohol, with a long finish. This is a 2009 and fully aged. — 2 days ago
Dark, glass-clinging purple with opaque black core. Abundant, blue-fruity nose. Echoed on the lush, full palate which adds red apple peel, blackberry, and bitter black plum. Medium acidity. Velvety medium tannins. Very nice, everyday St. Emilion. Food is, of course, naturally its friend. Drink now through 2030. — 2 months ago
Perfectly ripe black and red fruit. Grippy tannins, but still gives a nice mouthfeel. Not a lot of complexity. Great wine that has a lot of life left. Really enjoyable but hard to see how RP gave it a 100. — a day ago
