Blason Rosé Brut Champagne Blend

This lovely rosé is starting to show some age - I’ve had the bottle at least six years so understandable that it has toasty pastry and brioche notes along with a hint of hazelnut, dried cherry and candied raspberries. Very appealing - clean, crisp and refreshing. Very much the PJ style of medium-bodied wine and a lovely color approaching tawny. — 4 days ago

Deus Ex Machina Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

The color still looks good on this one but I’d like a bit more punch. It’s a bit on the soft side. Not over the edge but these need to be drunk. — a day ago

Interesting that they label this a “dessert wine”. It’s good for everything imho

Imported by Premier Cru. Pretty sure those guys went broke and scammed people. Hope someone else is importing these now….

Fleurie Gamay 2012

Fully mature mouth-coating herbs and tomato. Lacks freshness of most bojo but somehow works with broad mid-palate. A treat, for sure. — a month ago

Hermitage Syrah 1978

From Mag. An absolute wow of a bottle. The nose is crazy intense, lucid and profound. Dark plum fruit with a whiff of band aid, iron, black pepper, a tangy meatiness. Loads of delicate floral notes floating around, but a soulful and pristine bottle. As fresh as an early 2000’s bottle but so much age and precision going on. Wonderful. Just spectacular. — 21 days ago

Been awhile since I have had this…a good revisit. I’m sure my historical notes on this still stand.

My cherry tomatoes are in full streaming mode. So good. Especially, with burrata.

Try this with your garden cherry tomatoes or ones from the farmers market. Slice in halves, drizzle nicely but not over w/ olive oil, squeeze some fresh lemon, add Maldon salt to taste and fresh basil strips. Mix & let stand 10-15 before enjoying. It is the most authentic presentation of Italian cuisine I have known outside Italy.
