Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three days. Consistent throughout. The 2021 “Grange le Duc” pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of ripe strawberry, Montmorency cherry, salmiakki, freshly ground black pepper, dried green herbs, salt water taffy, and sous bois. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium+. This is a classic, rustic expression of Burgundy that simply blows my mind. The nose alone, slays. Drink now through 2031. — 14 hours ago

On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of fresh, ripe brambles, garrigue, red flowers, and inorganic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. There is a solid sense of place from this expression. Drink now through 2035. — 5 months ago

Lifted and elegant, has a high elevation profile with its acid but a lower elevation side with its ripeness and warmth. Carries with it rich red/black fruit, pine, roast beef, coffee grind, undertones of pastille, herbs, and rocks. There’s a layer of brett that is so beautiful, spiced, savory, working well. Reminds me of Chave brett, so alluring. There’s a kiss or reduction but generous air blew it off. Inaugural vintage for this cool site, cant wait to crack the 2015 soon. — 6 years ago
