An expressive Cab with vibrant red fruit of cranberry, pie cherry and currant and a punchy, lingering finish carried by fine grained, well integrated tannins. At the end of this month we will be telling the story of this hidden gem in Idaho. One of the early pioneers in the PNW together with some, now, legendary winemakers in Washington state. Hells Canyon found a perfect spot right here in southwest Idaho over overlooking the Snake River. 73% Cabernet Sauvignon; 16% Malbec; and 11% Merlot. Red plum, black raspberry and cherry fruit, with mocha, chocolate and baking spices. Creamy and well balanced. Philippe Melka is the consulting winemaker — 6 months ago
On the nose, this is very fresh black cherry... On the palate, that cherry plays alongside big, juicy, thick-skinned black plums. Something earthy here... Dried sage? The finish has some complexity in that here I taste a few more things like licorice root including its "bark" like what Dutch people chew. The tannins throughout I find wonderfully balanced with the fruit here. I really like this one. — 4 years ago
Great central coast Syrah from Michael Larner in Ballard Canyon. This area is overlooked snd should not be. This is a delicious, rich snd nuanced Syrah that you will enjoy. Get it if you can — 5 years ago
Even better than the crazy-good 2007, the 2015 La Sangre de Jonata is sheer perfection in a glass and up with the finest Syrahs ever made in California! Checking in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, aged in barrel, its saturated purple color is followed by out of this world aromatics black raspberries, smoked earth, graphite, game, violets and freshly crushed rock-like minerality. — 9 months ago
In the Nose, it reminds me of fruit roasted in warm brick oven, If that makes! Although the fruit is ripe, it is very understated. Dusty Black fruit dominated with cooking spices. Assertive tannins that work with the bold flavors. Lasting finish. Liked this wine way more than I expected. — 3 years ago

From a Syrah specialist in Central Coast, this shows a profile of ripe blueberries and blackberries, accented by violets, dark roast coffee, and a hint of dried herbs. On the palate, it's full-bodied and powerful, though it comes across as slightly over-extracted, with firm, grippy tannins that need time to settle.
A solid wine, but I think there are better options in its price range. — a month ago
