Another amazing 23 Napa Cabernet. This one will reveal its best self in the mid game window of 15-30 yrs. When this gets scored, it has high potential for a 💯. — 7 hours ago

Domaine Philippe & Vincent Jaboulet

Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2015

In the pocket right now. Dark fruit, game, and a savory edge of violets, black olive, and coffee grounds. Lovely wine. Enthralling from nose to finish. My last bottle unfortunately. — 3 years ago

1998. Simply excellent! A bit of fruit and acidity left, but also tasting some game, flint, and smoke that I love in some older burgundy. — 5 years ago

Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier

Les Fuées Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Another superb 13! Mugnier’s Fuées, a magical vineyard and essentially a southern extension of Bonnes Mares, is just stunning tonight wafting layers of sweet strawberry-rhubarb, black tea, rose petals, game and smoky minerals. It’s liquid velvet in the mouth with an energetic spine of cool minerality and balanced acids adding freshness and focus to its delivery. A beguiling combination of power and elegance and a fabulous expression of the vintage. — 2 months ago

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

Pop and pour. About 2 years since my last btl. Wow, stunning now.. Cola, soft nuits earth and game, dried raspberry and wild strawberry, perfume for days. On the palate: fantastic acidity, a touch thin, but somehow simultaneous denser on the finish, which shows loads of spice, strawberry. — 3 years ago

Domaine Fourrier

Les Petits Vougeots Vieille Vigne Vougeot 1er Cru Pinot Noir

3 hour decant to let co2 resolve. Black cherry. Game. Touch of reduction. This tastes like chambolle with Corton meatiness. Tannins a bit chewy but this should be wonderful in time. Stashing my other bottle. 2015 vintage — 4 years ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Nearing its peak drinkability, this long forgotten gift is full of broody character. And coincidentally or not it has game blood and rustic notes. The wine well beyond drinkable. The age has rounded out the tannins and made the fruit exuberant. Tell you what, this is way better than the finally. Wish the HBO producers would have had the same patience. To patient wine and f-ed up endings. Name your house… — 5 months ago

I loved all those wines and beers named after GofT! I wish he would just finish the books. I guarantee a different outcome than the series. I’m House Stark all the way! What about you?

When they say bring your A game you can think of this bottle. This is an amazing glass of wine. It benefits from decanting for a good bit. Upon opening I thought of dusty plum and cedar on the nose. Tasting brought plum, currant, blackberries, vintage leather plus an array of other items indicative of this style of big wine. There is a good mix of tannins and acid that makes this a classic great glass of wine. I want to try it again in a few years to see how much better it may get. — 4 years ago

Nellessen Vineyard Syrah 2016

Smells and tastes like cured olives with a bit of lemon and some tart plums with a bit of prune. Overall reminds me of game. Not my favorite from wind gap. — 5 years ago
