Silky tannins, full-bodied, earthy. Fabulous bouquet. Dark cherries, blackberries, cedar, sweet tobacco, and spice. Smooth satisfying finish. — 2 months ago
Opened too young; lovely and exceptionally made wine. Brickish red/brown. I let decant for a loooong time. Lots of cranberry and red fruit, some herbs, clay, faint cedar and tobacco. The acidity was med-high, but the tannins really softened out with aeration. I'd say this is still developing flavors and will be 95+ in a decade. — 2 days ago
Wow - first wine by Giacomo conterno and I see why this producer is hailed as one of the legends of Piedmonte. This required a few hours of air in decanter and was singing - the nose was utterly amazing with layered florals. Full body and a seemless experience on the palate - this has the structure to continue evolving for a few more years in bottle but I see no reason to wait! — a month ago
Great depth and robust flavor. — 2 months ago
Full-bodied, yet not too heavy, with a well-balanced taste. I would consider buying it again. — 6 days ago
Wow. Deep dark ruby. Blackberry, currants, cacao, wonderful nose. High tannins not gripping. Medium light body!! Strange. Haha. — 9 days ago
The nose is textbook nebbiolo with cherry, sour cherry, tar, almond, hay, tobacco leaves, black tea and roasted pork shoulder juice 😀. The palate is rather big and bold with a strong acid drive, a dry palate through and through, some impressive width, cherry, tea and that savoury note reminiscent of the pork shoulder juice note I found on the nose. The mouthfeel is first soft and nice, with almost a sweeter touch, before a great tannic walls comes and disrupts the entire feel and triggers a rather long finish with tea, cherry, tobacco touches and again that savoury pork note. It's a lovely, not so complex nebbiolo but really well made and offering pleasure by itself or alongside dinner (we had it along chicken gizzard stew and it worked super well). — 2 months ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Deep Ruby color with aromas of dark fruits, flinty spice, floral and oak notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, black cherry and plum with notes of espresso, cacao and licorice wrapped in oak. Firm tannins, great old world balance with acidity, full body, long finish ends with fruit, oak, spice, and earthy mineral character. — 19 days ago
