Pora Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2020

Had this for our anniversary! New fave. Can’t believe I ever thought I didn’t like Italian wine. Full body, tells a story. Slightly tannic. Blackberry, clay pot. Really really good value for a low splurge. — 6 days ago

La Cerbaiola di Salvioni Giulio

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2021

Quite light ruby with wide pink rim . Very intense red cherry , spiced strawberry, raspberry , rose petals , dried Provençal herbs and crushed rocks . On the palate lovely sweet red fruits ; those spiced cherry , strawberry jam and raspberry present on the nose . Herbal notes and a hint of liquorice . Very elegant and refined , with good acidity and fine , polished sweet , but noticeable, tannins . Good length , with that saline tinge at the end . Very moreish even at this stage , young and fresh with balanced alcohol (I would serve this cool however ) . Probably will improve over the next 5 years and last a further 5-8. On this showing a step ahead of the 2020. — 7 months ago

Paolina Barbera d'Alba 2015

Pop and pour. Lovely barbera. Nose shows mulberry leaf, plum, black raspberry. On the palate: excellent acidity, pomegranate, black raspberry, dried leaves, and just so juicy. No real tannin visible on the juicy finish. Yum. — 3 years ago

Pas Dosé Alta Langa Brut Nature White Blend 2016

@Delectable Wine this is the Blanc de Noir*

One of Piedmont’s newest DOCs — for Metodo Classico wines from traditional French varieties. Why should Franciacorta & Trentodoc have all the fun? Great opener to one of best lunches / meals we had in Italy.

Marcarini Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2011

Still youthfully dark in color with a very slight browning on rim. Upon opening still very tight and shy on nose. Decided to decant this for 3.5h prior our Christmas dinner and it started to open around 3h mark. Then it was a great Barbaresco from Treiso offering slightly darker side of Nebbiolo expression with ripe cherry, some leather and smoke, fine pepper notes. Healthy acidity and fine tannins offers solid back bone for further aging and development. I take this is 2-3 years from peak and should continue to drink several years after that. Glad I have 2 more bottles. This was a fabulous qpr back then at 23€/bottle — 4 years ago

A quick CV tasting with Margaret L on her return trip stopover. Excellent example with lively and softish textures and long finish. Opened 10/19/24 dinner with David. Still tasting the same, with Evans pork — 7 months ago

Ferrari

Brut Trento Chardonnay

Named after Giulio Ferrari, who made the first Italian traditional method sparkling wine in 1902. Entirely made from Chardonnay and aged on the lees for a minimum of 15 months, the Ferrari NV Brut unfolds precise aromas of white peach, lemon peel, ripe apple and brioche, wrapped in a distinctive smokiness. The crisp acidity provides a firm backbone, giving this medium-bodied Trentodoc a lifting freshness. Drink now. — 2 years ago
