One of the wines that was most often awarded Tre Bicchieri throughout the years by Gambero Rosso. I can certainly see why. Fruit is still kicking, but at this stage it takes the backseat to complex savory and earthy notes with touch of smoke and red floral.
Rich and velvety on the palate. Candied long finish.
A blend of Cab, Cab Franc and Merlot. — a year ago
It's a great, refreshing Sangiovese. If you like chianti, you'll love this. It's packed with flavor, but it's light and easy drinking and fruity with enough spice and herbs to balance it. I feel like I could take wine from the porch to the dining table to the couch.
Color: A dark clear Ruby color that goes kinda purple in color
Aroma: It's a strong fruity forward aroma that I easily smelled through my N95 mask (probably a knock off). It's a delicious and enticing aroma. I get dark fruits like sour cherry, some plum, and subtle nutty notes. It has a fruit forward aroma with some juiciness. It's a very inviting aroma.
Taste: Delicious. Reminds me od chianti which makes sense since many chiantis are Sangiovese. It's light and savory with some spice and herbs like parsley. It's finishes smooth with a slightly lingering finish that dusts the tongue and coats the mouth. There's plum flavours, some cherry, some spiciness, some herbaceous parsley Ness. It has good acid and low tannins. — 3 years ago
Had the 2023 in January of 2025. First sip out of the glass was strange. Kind of sour fruit, butter and wood. Gave it time to breathe and swirled in the glass and then it was really good. Light fruits- dark cherry and blackberry. Hints of wood and leather in the finish. I always tend to jump right in. Have a decanter but don’t always head to it based on other people’s comments, I probably should have! But time in the glass was kind. Was a very interesting wine that I would love to have again. — 22 days ago
Yum! In fact, yum, yum, yum. Excellent California Cab that is the quintessential iteration of the region and why CaliCab has become so popular. I would drink this anytime, anywhere with any red, roasted meats, hard cheeses and crusty breads. Excellent wine. — 4 years ago
Medium purple in color; raspberries, cherries, and dried herbs on the nose; low acidity; medium minus tannins; tastes like tart cherry jolly ranchers, raspberry sauce, and black tea with a long fruity finish. There may be a little residual sugar in this wine, but it's still very good. It's easy drinking for anyone that likes sour candies. It could use a little more acidity. Nellie doesn't like it because it's sour. I love it. — a year ago
Aged in 500 and 1000l tonneaux and botte. More complex but maintains the house style for Nebbiolo with a more skeletal presentation. About 30 days in skins and shows the slightly more rusty color thisb exteneded maceration might suggest Some might say delicate/aromatic and polished, I want a little more primary fruit. — 2 years ago
Från tre riktigt gamla vingårdar i Franschhoek. Planterade 1902, -36 och 42. Väldigt potent och koncentrerad. Frukten är lite kartig. Gul frukt, vitt te, zest, blöta stenar. Skulle nog behöva drickas om 5-10 år. Alldeles för ung nu. — 4 years ago

2021 vintage. A bit of everything. Esteemed producer. Excellent nose. Front-palate richness. Mid-palate power and presence. Pleasantly astringent and beyond substantial finish. I usually eschew Barbera d'Alba for the resto list but couldn't deny this one. Picked up two cases and may pick up more to have laying around for 1.5-2 years. At the ridiculous resto price of $26.67, I can't afford not to. So delicious. 01.29.25. — 4 days ago
