Cattier

1er Cru Brut Rosé Champagne

Champagne Cattier – Brut Rosé Premier Cru (N/V)
Montagne de Reims, Champagne – France 🇫🇷

Overview
Produced by the Cattier family (vinegrowers in Champagne since 1763, now in their 13th generation), this Premier Cru Brut Rosé blends 31% Chardonnay, 26% Meunier, 43% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims. Crafted with precision, it highlights the house’s reputation for balance and finesse.

Aromas & Flavors
Delicate raspberry and wild strawberry notes, lifted by citrus zest and a whisper of brioche. Hints of red currant and rose petals add charm.

Mouthfeel
Crisp, creamy, and elegant with fine bubbles. The mousse is persistent yet delicate, and the finish is both refreshing and silky.

Food Pairings
Pairs beautifully with smoked salmon, tuna tartare, charcuterie, or fresh berry desserts. Also excellent as an aperitif.

Verdict
A well-made Premier Cru Champagne rosé that delivers finesse, freshness, and subtle complexity. A fine choice for those seeking elegance at a relatively approachable price point. 🥂cheers!

Did You Know? 📌
Cattier is also the family behind the ultra-prestige label Armand de Brignac (“Ace of Spades”), but their own Cattier-branded Champagnes often deliver outstanding value for their pedigree.

Robert Sinskey Vineyards

Los Carneros Pinot Noir 2016

Small production. RSV has under 200 acres of vineyards in 5 Carneros locations & a winery in the Stags Leap District. The wines are 100% organic. Ruby with berry, cherry & spice aromas. On the palate flavors of wild strawberry & cherry with complex spice, citrus, oak and balanced acidity. Fine soft tannins, good balance, long finish with an earthy characteristic ending with notes of vanilla spice. Nice! — 4 years ago

Clos Triguedina Cahors Malbec 2011

Cherry, wild berry, smoke, menthol, dried herbs and bret that’s trying to take over but hanging in the background. By day two and three, bret had overwhelmed the wine. For 2011, everything is still intact. — 6 years ago

Domaine Barville

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend 2016

A fairly interesting Juxtapositioning of the C-D-P, and the Menorah, burning the Third night lights.
A touch of that classic decomposing stink, amd wild berry.
3 hours open, the fruit is dark, and mingled with tabac, anise, black, oil cured olives. Tannin and acid walk hand in hand splendidly, one, never overspeaking the other.
Young and full of years to come.

Olga Raffault

Les Picasses Chinon Cabernet Franc 2017

Wine 1, with rack of lamb. As my drinking history shows, Raffault is a perennial favorite. 2017 is easy access with medium weight, wild red berry fruit, tomato leaf, and earth. Drink over the next five years. Holding ‘09, ‘14, ‘15, and ‘18 with patience. — 2 years ago

Roncevie Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2021

Baby gevrey Chambertin. Fresh, with wild berry and floral aromas with a nice mineral finish. Not as concentrated or earthy as most classified wines in the region, but it’s an excellent value and great quality for an unclassified wine. — 3 years ago

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

9.2

From magnum. Wild. Savage, sanguine notes of juicy wild berry, rose, mushroom, and barrel funk on the nose. This tugs the palate in many directions at once, at times dark fruited, others herb-tinged, others earthy, smoky as well. This needs time. It's a big boy, too, with big boy tannins and real presence in the mouth. Wine of character. Good stuff. — 5 years ago

I Vigneri di Salvo Foti

Vinudilice Rosé Blend 2017

Wowow. Salmon-ruby colored, packed with red fruit, pink-green just ripe strawberries, wild berry, and zingy minerality and acid. But with a leesy, buttery quality reminiscent of great rosé champagne. Intoxicating combination, leading with the nose. Excellent texture and mouthfeel, and a long finish. Great stuff; some of the top rosé, anywhere. — 6 years ago

Nero D'Avola 2021

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2021 Nero d'Avola is spicy in the glass, displaying a woodland-inspired blend of mentholated herbs, shaved pine, mandarin and crushed wild berries. This is pleasantly sweet upon entry, with cocoa-tinged red berry fruits complicated by hints of sage and an air of lavender. Staining and potent, the 2021 tapers off with dramatic length, leaving firming tannins and notes of licorice to linger on. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2024)

Presqu'ile Winery

Presqu'ile Vineyard Syrah 2020

NOSE: distinct black pepper! Maybe the clearest black pepper I’ve ever smelled in a wine. Other savoury spices also, both savoury and baking - I pick out cardomom. Also plum and muted blackberry. A dash of vanilla. Almost like fruity bitters. Hmm!

TASTE: VERY peppery, iron, leather -medium weight at most, not heavy or lush, but not thin either. Very dry black plum and spice [rosemary???], some dry wild berry. Bitter tea on the finish. I think this would go great with BBQ beef with a spicy dry rub. Well made. 90-91.

Montessu Isola dei Nuraghi Carignane Blend 2016

9.2

Fantastic, old school, rustic Carignan that went great with spicy tomato sauce. Sends a jolt of wild berry and tart cherry across the palate, tight and wound up like a drum. Very tense, quite tannic, this needs either time or lots of air, and food is a must. The finish and the overall impression lingers quite nicely. This bottle generated conversation around the table, got people's attention. This is exactly what is needed when it's needed. Tons of charm. — 5 years ago

Super nose that is so alpine. Grass, deep berry fruit, blackberry, mint and spice. Wild flowers. Insane minerals. Insane florals. Pine needles. Resin. So so complex. A knockout nose. Just incredible. I can’t believe how bright and lifted it was. Opulent, incisive and textured. Gorgeous sweet and elegant fruit with very serious texture. A great wine. Really. Terrific concentration. Sappy. The ultimate alpine gamay. Almost a 9.3. So great.

Monte di Grazia

Rosso Campania IGT Red Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.2

The nose on the 2015 Monte di Grazia is incredibly fresh yet also packed with zesty bright red berry fruits, as citrus-inspired floral tones and hints of wild herbs come together, creating a lifted expression. On the palate, soft textures are contrasted by tart red and black fruits, as vibrant acids make the mouth water, giving life to spicy inner floral tones. The finish is long yet buzzing, with energy and freshness, resonating on savory herbs, bright red fruits, and hints of fine tannin. This is already so easy to like, yet it will coast effortlessly for ten years or more in the cellar. (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2020)
