Lady Of The Mandrake

Glenelly Estate

Lady May Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot 2017

Dark and brooding, the flagship 2017 Lady May from Glenelly is effusive from the first pour, with aromas of black cherry, purple herbs, baking spice and chocolate. The palate is distinctly savoury, with a spicy quality that represents quite a contrast from prior vintages. This is an altogether quite serious offering and perhaps lacks the glossy suave character of, say, the 2015, which I prefer at this stage. But this should be absolutely fantastic in around 5-10 years’ time and I can’t wait to try it again. — 2 months ago

Chevey Presqu'ile Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay 2023

Very austere. Lemongrass, lemons, peach, stones, a hint of underlying bread, but a huge amount of acidity. Very good with fish. — 5 months ago

100 Years a Lady Pinot Meunier

This is the first time having this varietal. It’s super flavorful and bright on the front and mid palate. No finish. But you wouldn’t expect it out of this varietal. Good depth and a touch of funk. They did a great job with this one — 2 years ago

Our Lady of Guadalupe

OLG Pinot Noir 2022

Delectable Wine
9.4

The 2022 Pinot Noir Our Lady of Guadalupe is a hugely promising wine from Dave Phinney's new OLG Our Lady of Guadalupe label. Aromatic, deep and potent, the 2022 has so much going on. Crushed flowers, spice, plum, menthol and licorice all build in the glass. Hints of pomegranate, new leather and blood orange build into deep, resonant finish. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2024)

Kinsman Eades

Anjea Sleeping Lady Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

2018 Kinsman Eades Anjea… admittedly very young and still a little tannic, but unfurled a bit after time in the glass with a great nose and flavors of blackberries, blueberry pie, black cherries.. a hint of iron and herbs in the background! This will only get better with time! Even better the following day!! — a year ago

Ad Vivum Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Pop and pour. 1st time trying Ad Vivum and their Yountville sleeping lady vineyard. On the nose: subdued notes of blackberry, mint, dark chocolate, soil. Taste: a smooth, creamy, silky wine with black raspberry, smoke, cedar, earth, and a spiced bitter chocolate medium finish. — 2 months ago

Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose of cedar, herbs, tobacco leaf, herbs, black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, vanilla, licorice, cloves, mint, black pepper and light earth.

Full-bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, blackberries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 8 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is already gorgeous, although still young.

Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining.

The 2016 was a great vintage, and it is showing. This Single Vineyard cabernet will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.

Robert Parker 97 points. Wine Enthusiasts 96 points.

I've had a few vintages of this wine, and it always delivers.

Thank you Barry for sharing this with me.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with BBQ Meats. I paired it beef brisket.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (65% new) French oak barrels for 18 months.

14.7% alcohol by volume

94 points.

$180.
