Christmas Day wine 🎄🎅🏼🍷
Acquired this for two reasons: Flora Springs was my “a-ha” wine 10yrs ago which started my wine journey, and secondly because it’s my sister-in-law’s birth year.
Enjoyed on Christmas Day (with said sister-in-law) and family (the family who introduced me to wine + Flora Springs). Kept the bottle standing for a few days. In the glass, there was bricking but the color was much more vibrant than expected. Aromatically, it showed mushroom and fig, but a good bit of muddled red and black berry fruit, some mint as well. Alive, elegant and bright on the palate with good tannin structure (held strong the two hours it was open). Small hint of tobacco at the finish, but the berry fruit stayed persistent keeping the flavors balanced. Undeniably older Napa (13%) and in great shape. — 18 days ago
From magnum. This was the first vintage of Patz & Hall “Alder Springs Vineyard” Chardonnay. At the point of blending a flicker of original youthfulness with otherwise fully matured Chardonnay flavors. This is why we drink older wines. Rich, complex spice and toast, notes of tangerine, beeswax, dried apple, caramel, wildflower, sea breeze, exotic perfume, kiwi, crushed rock. A moderate yellow color. I was there when the grapes were picked. Short of help, we all pitched in to harvest. A miracle. — 2 months ago
Wes really likes it. Unique flavor, tart, crisp. I didn’t love it — 3 months ago
Had Petit Sarah after a long time … purple and bold ! Easy to drink , no decanting needing . — 3 days ago
It’s not just the name of the 2018 Under the Wire Alder Springs Sparkling Pinot Noir that is more than a mouthful. This is a beautiful, multi-layered sparkler with floral notes, hints of fragrant herbs and strawberry along with crisp acidity and a subtle mousse. It’s somewhere between a white and rosé, having taken on a copper hue from brief skin contact. The Alder Springs is a great food wine with room to develop. — 2 months ago
Delicious #marlborough #sauvignonblanc - Heady grapefruit, passionfruit and an under layer of green herbs on the nose. Upon first unscrewing, (+1 for easy, reliable closures;) noticeable prickle on the tongue suggests perhaps unintentional secondary fermentation. If so, it’s a happy accident as a delicious impression of grapefruit soda envelopes your mouth. Touch of grapefruit pith bitterness on the finish. Lovely refreshing alternative to more pedestrian mass-market Kiwi SB. — 3 months ago

Lovely candied redfruits and some floral notes as well, fruit is nicely surrounded by some oak notes, soft tannins, very good acidity, long, lingering finish, very fine Oregon Pinot Noir!! — 3 days ago
