First taste!? Mature with a bit of bricking but still nice solid color and bouquet of mature red fruits and earth. Velvety and enticing on palate. Excellent with Evan’s Shanghainese pork belly. 51/43/4/2 Merlot/Cab/CabFranc/Petit Verdot on label from Bernard Magrez touting same attention as his Pape Clement, and long history dating back to 1120. Importer label says 37/55/6/2 instead! (Oldest in Medoc, 1400 by house of Foix loyal to King of England. 1486 Camet new owner. 1500s by Michel de Montaigne.) — 17 days ago

Château Bel Air-Marquis d'Aligre

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

First time trying this. Opened 8 hours before and decanted for 4, which I’d suggest at this stage. I don’t think I would have guessed Bordeaux blind, probably would have gone something from Piedmont. Not actually giving a ton on the nose, but quite nice and deep plum / purple fruited / leathery on the palate. Hauntingly balanced finish that goes on and on. Very nice. — 3 months ago

Marie-Laure Lurton

La Tour de Bessan Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

2022 vintage. Dark red, much deeper colour than usual for this estate. Marie-Laure Lurton seems to have gone for a bit more extraction in this exceptional vintage. More powerful than usual, with a fresh black fruit personality, embedded in a tight, ripe tannic structure. Serious length too. Decanting recommended,as it showed better the next day. Ab. 14%. — a month ago

Château La Tour Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Dark rubi robe with bricky tears. Nose of secondary and tertiary notes, tobacco, asphalt, cedar, and a hint of dark berries. Medium bodied, a bit off in the finish, but really good bottle and we still have a couple more left :)
