A stunner. The way Zinfandel should be made. — 12 days ago
A great Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 18 months in French oak, about 50% new, deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruits, cigar box, lavender and spicy scents. On the palate flavors of black cherry, plum and currants with cacao, floral and minty notes. Fine dusty tannins, long finish ending with fruit, leather, tobacco, espresso and earthy character on a long finish. Very Nice. Will age. — 5 months ago
Blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 14% Petit Verdot, aged in 40% new French oak, deep Ruby red with aromas of red and black fruits with oaky spice. On the palate flavors of black raspberry, currants and black cherry with licorice, toasty oak and tobacco. Fine lush tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak and earthy tobacco spice. Drinking well now and will continue to develop! — a month ago
Corked broke. Again. Constant issue with older Nickel wines and particularly this one
Thankfully wine was solid. Starts off quite juicy and plush.
With a little time and the right food pairing, it provides a little more grip and flavor.
For me - this took some caviar and salt to really get it going and then it was at another level. Rating is with caviar. Definitely 2-3 pts less without it. — 2 months ago
Wine is incredibly dark and brooding. Very dense and heavy taste and texture right out of the bottle.
Drank over about 3 hours. Oxygen was this wines friend and the wine opened up quite a bit to reveal more bright and red fruit to complement the black fruit and density which also gave way as it breathed.
Not a blockbuster from a complexity perspective and lacked the punch of something special. But a solid oakville cab nonetheless and not too oaky. — 3 months ago
Nickel & Nickel exclusively produces 100% varietal, single-vineyard wines that express the distinctive personality of each vineyard. Established in 1997 by the partners of Far Niente. Medium lemon color with aromas of tropical and stone fruit with citrus and toasty oak notes. On the palate flavors of apple, pear and peach, lemon zest, vanilla oak and wet stone notes. Nice balance with tangy acidity on long finish ending with fruit, oak and rich minerality. Classic, very nice! — a month ago
