Pale lemon in colour. Flinty/struck match notes on the nose - initially citrus and with time more stone fruit. The palate is rich and opulent with grapefruit and white peach sharing the spoils. I have had limited experience with Coddington but this was flat out delicious. The winemaker suggests a short window of 2-4 years (hard to see it being better than it is right now ), whereas pros like JR take it through to 2031. I have wanted to do Alban side by side with Rostaing with a well seasoned Tri-tip. Tonight is the night.

The crowd that leans California liked the French better.

I have always thought Alban in the new world mimicked Rostaing’s style.

Both phenomenal and I enjoyed both for slightly different climate & soil reasons.

These two producers do Syrah without the heavy smoked meats & bacon fat of say Cayuse. — 3 months ago

I preferred the Enemigo red much more than this white #chardonnay it is a new world style with some tropical fruit aromas and a new oak undertone with hints of coconut. It is a well-made wine, fine and delicate. #argentina #mendoza — 5 years ago

I bought this bottle in Florence around 2019. I later found out the shop was owned by Antinori - the producer of the wine. An excellent Super Tuscan from Bolgheri. 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Dark Ruby with a tawny rim starting to develop. Classic Bordeaux descriptors of Cassis, herbs, tobacco and hints of cocoa with oak totally integrated. A rich and mouth filling palate such that it could have been from a new world vineyard in a good vintage. This is comparable in quality to a good Super Second. Interestingly the 2007 had the major change of Syrah being eliminated from the blend in favour of Cabernet Franc. An outstanding Bordeaux blend which exceeded expectations. I should keep an eye out for more bottles. — 6 months ago

A lovely melding of Old World finesse and New World exuberance. Green apple, pear, white peach, ripe lemon oil, flint, acacia, and the barest hint of toasted brioche. Mouth watering acidity but not at the expense of texture. Long, beautifully ripe finish. Stunning. — 3 years ago
