Medium light straw . Wet slate and chalky on the nose , with white flowers , touch of gunpowder and a lychee note . On the plate more white fruits , white peach , touch of lychee and ripe apple, with a light smoky touch . Nicely rounded mouthfeel with balanced alcohol . Slightly saline finish , with good acidity . Ok length . Showing pretty young at the moment , this will be better in a couple of years and last well a further 5-8 — 2 months ago
Acidity is the first thing that I notice in a Lauer wine. Always screaming pairs well with the peach, apricot and steely minerality. I remember this bottle having a hint of RS. — 2 months ago
Solid SB. More round with the oak influence that took away the brightness I would look for in a SB. I guess I’m not really into BDX white blends. — 3 months ago
Red and Black fruits. Coffee grounds from the oak. Plummy aromas. Not as luscious as many previous Stonewells and 2008 was a ripe and pretty good vintage in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Finishes with a little astringency. As HH said, a good but not great Stonewell. — a month ago

The 2022 Chardonnay Belle Côte emerges from vines planted by Helen Turley the early 1990s, the oldest vines on the property. It marries power and elegance in grand style. Deep mineral notes give the 2022 notable presence and intensity to pull it all together. This was the last fruit the estate picked, as is often the case. Belle Côte is another strong 2022 from Peter Michael. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2024)
