2023 summer. Simple, lovable country wine that went over wonderfully at table — 2 years ago
A nice complex wine with a dominant Vermentino grape, — 4 years ago
Has Vermentino fallen out of favour with Italians and is being replaced by a taste for Chardonnay?
Maybe but I don't want to believe it yet.
On hot summer days there is not much more refreshing than a well chilled glass of Vermentino. Chilled is a must - it still has enough oomph in the nose to release its floral essence. Once it comes up to room temp it can be overwhelmingly perfumey IMHO. Good acid balance.
I'm pretty convinced that you can trust anything from Fontori to be a solid choice. — 9 days ago
Guado al Tasso San Walfredo 100% Merlot. 2019. Deep, dark ruby coloration. Just opened, On the nose, dark cherry, currants, Florals, oak, and leather with a Touch of vanilla. On the palate, cherry, vanilla, and oak, full bodied and robust. Strong tannins. Will resist after some decanting. Red berry and floral fragrance more prevalent after a little more time decanting. Revisiting again after significant decanting: abundant black cherry, oak and vanilla and on the nose. On the palate, rather jammy fruit, black cherry and berry. A long finish of black cherry, anise, oak and vanilla. Bold, lush and strong tannins. Very, Very long finish. Complex and layered. — a year ago
Amazing nose - absolutely just filled with truffles! AMAZING. Don’t need to drink it. Enjoy the nose that in itself is already an absolute pleasure! — 3 years ago
Nice watermelon taste go along well with seafood. — 21 hours ago
Paired with Bolognese sauce. Nice wine with food. 2022 vintage - really should have been decanted first. Solid depth and good fruit. Tannins hit up front a bit too much. — 6 months ago
Azienda Agricola Poggio al Grillo Guado delle Casaline Bolgheri Rosso 2023, Tuscany, Italy
It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Purple in color with a purplish rim.
Very aromatic nose of blue fruits and sweet cherries.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, plums, cherries, light earth, herbs and spices.
Tangy finish with soft tannins and cherries.
This is a very tasty Merlot. A very unique wine from Bolgheri, Italy. Nicely balanced and easy drinking.
Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.
Nice to see such low alcohol from this region.
Good by itself or with food.
A blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Sangiovese.
Aged in ceramic vats for 8 months.
13% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

2021 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 45 mins. Chunky and decently power-laden. Hints of finesse here and there. Much too much too early obvs but time, space and the FLB (Friday Lunch Boys) demanded a sacrificial lamb. The oracle at Delphi was on a lunch break apparently so no tea leaves or entrails read but this needs at least 3-4 years to divine the future. 08.15.25. — 9 days ago
