Very nice. Birthday gift from P. To E. — a year ago
51% CF, 49%ME. Enjoyed the wine & blend. For me, these wines are a bit rough when young but smooth out nicely with age. — 3 years ago

Excellent wine for TJs! Mineral, very light green apple, citrus. Great with food or alone. Chilled. — 9 months ago
Blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 4% Shiraz, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and cigar box spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with notes of cacao and tobacco. Lively acidity, fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice and mineral tones. Very nice, will continue to age. — 3 years ago
The 2017 Estate Red is an unusual blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Malbec and 11% Petit Verdot. Racy and opulent to the core, the 2017 packs a serious punch. Jammy red fruit, chocolate, iron, smoke, tobacco and incense add layers of savory, earthy complexity. The 2017 is maybe just a bit rustic, but it has plenty of depth, too. Give it an hour or two in the decanter. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2021)

2015 vintage. With 74% Merlot (and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Cabernet Franc), this is a world of difference compared to the 2022 ( 49% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot) tasted alongside. We switch from red fruit in the fully mature 2015, to the more black fruit personality of the 2022. While the 2015 is an attractive wine in a lighter style, it is no match for the more powerful and profound 2022,reflecting the impressive progress made here year after year since the Lorenzetti family took over. — 3 months ago
Owner Doug Margerum and winemaker Doug "Scotty" Scott, craft world-class wine working with the top vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Blend of 49% Grenache, 31% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Counoise, 5% Cinsault. Deep Ruby with dark fruit and floral aromas with complex spice. On the palate flavors of plum, cherry and raspberry with lively acidity. The finish brings notes of cacao, licorice, espresso and earthy minerality on a long ending. Nice value. — 9 months ago

A penfold’s classic, 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Shiraz, an amazing combo that provides the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz. A great example of the striking balance of fruit and oak, this version of Bin 389 highlights the approachable mid-palate Penfolds is known for decades. Grapes are sourced from 5 different regions, on the nose, it is rich with deep tones of mahogany and cigar leaves. Mellow spices are quite integrated with a dusty and textured mouthfeel thanks to the amount of cocoa powder, tannins are firm but impactful. Smooth and delicate after 90 mins of breathing. Tasted at immediate uncorked and after 1.5 hours and the difference was noticeable!
