Quilceda Creek

Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark purple in color with a wide purplish rim.

Beautiful nose of black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, earth, chocolates, tobacco and peppercorn.

Full-bodied with medium acidity.

Dry and fruit forward on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, blackberries, cedar, vanilla, spices, chocolates, tobacco, light earth and herbs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain in Washington State. Elegant and fruity. Smooth and soft.

This 6 year old is showing nice complexity at this point, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Showing good potential to become a 95+ point wine.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime.

Spicy, entertaining, and the high alcohol is well integrated by now.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with a nice piece of steak.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged for 20 months in all new French oak barrels.

14.8% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$150.

Spring Mountain Vineyard

Estate Bottled Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

2019 vintage. Tasted 30 minutes after being opened. Not decanted. Not nearly as gratuitous as the vast majority of 2019’s. Overall, lean but with a pleasant substrate/foundation of dark plum and cassis. A bit tight and would definitely benefit from a 2+hour decanter spa/lounge sesh. 07.15.25 — 13 days ago

Laurel Glen Vineyard

Sonoma Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 1986

Sweet dried redfruits and oak aromas, soft tannins, sweet fruit on palate as well, very fine acidity and depth, seems close to fully mature, but should last 3-5 years at least, kudos to Patrick Campbell, who made a lot of outstanding LG Cabernets back in the 1980s and 1990s, excellent Sonoma Mountain Cabernet!! — a month ago

So bloody jealous. Have been looking for the Laurel Glen cabs from 1985-1994 for ages without success. Formative for my nascent palate in the early 90's. Can't score a bottle to save my life. F.

Spring Mountain Vineyard

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1979

1979 vintage. Tasted after being open for 30 minutes. Not decanted. Medium body still. Smoke and caramel flavors at the forefront with expected baselines/basslines of dark plum and dark cherry. Baking chocolate mostly hiding in the wings but not demonstrative currently. Unified and drinking beautifully now. Smooth. complex finish. Has at least another 4-5 years at this level. Picked up a case for the resto for a song. 07.15.25. — 13 days ago

@Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego : I had a ‘73 a few weeks ago and it was insanely youthful. Crazy.

@Shay A I bet. The wines back then just relied on different, simpler composition.

2007. Big, rich, dark fruits and oak! Great on its own, but I liked the Red Cap a little better. — a month ago

I love this cab bc so many of the notes are classic but the rannins are low. $160, RP 95 points. — a month ago

Elivette Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2018

Medium bodied with dark violet color I double decanted the wine and it surprisingly still seemed young after seven years. More Cab Franc (18%) in this vintage blend than some of the others it was smooth and subtle with cocoa, fig, and blueberry. Paired well with BBQ St. louis ribs. — a month ago
