Cosmic Little Thing (Hazy-Double) IPA {Sierra Nevada}
Peachy-pear colored soup with a sugar-white, neoprene porcini underside for a corona. Ocularly challenged swamp blobs connote a slimy, runic, nebulous, message long lost to the galactic decay. The nose is bananas. Plantain, papaya, passion fruit, tangerine, creamy peach, dried apricot, coconut, candied lemon and candied lime. Lively mouthfeel of bursting stars and stardust shimmer before expressing a creamy lemon curd, and ripe pineapple pudding in a glinting chainmail shroud that melts into oblivion. The golden mirror splinters infinitesimally. The liquid universe is ours! — 2 years ago
Very light barely sparkling rose perfect for summer and birria tacos — 3 years ago
Cola and rose aromas, sweet tobacco and dried cherry shimmer with cilliate violet strands, and seared meat. Eucalyptus awash in tannins rakes the palate initially before softening to black and bing cherries, allspice, cinnamon and cedar. Clove puts the spice over the top in a food-worthy wine that checks every Barolo box and then some.

Oh María Luz you are a rockstar. I lovingly carried this bottle back from my first trip to Chile, having been bowled over by this fierce female winemaking pioneer who runs Casa Marin with her son. From the chilliest part of San Antonio Valley, a stone’s throw from the sea, Luz’s wine shimmer with acidity and vibrate with energy. At 12 years of age this Syrah is absolutely singing with gorgeous green olive salinity backed by blackberry bramble, dried herbs, white pepper and dried currants. Fantastic acidity and faint tannins make this an utterly effortless mouthful. I wish I had another bottle. Or five. — 6 years ago
Key Lime Pie and Lolita? Hard slap of apple cider riding high on waves of apricot and cinnamon stick that is cheating with apple in Pickleville. Asian spices shimmer alongside. Real tart briny lime plays nice with Old Key Lime House-made pie. Bing cherry bringing the cringe from the fringes to the face cave! Sugar-olive dichotomies. The push and pull cancellations have me imagining pickled persimmon existences, dried, spiced Asian plum, banana pepper, potpourri woods, candied ginger, and bite after bite the palatal assault assuaged by lime and sugar and graham cracker. Bittersweet tang for the twang thang. — 7 years ago
I really like this wine!
It’s crisp and refreshing on a hot summer evening. And very affordable — 9 months ago
14.7% ABV! Hot foothills vino. Nice deep red color with a maroon shimmer. Smells like sun baked blackberries and gunpowder. Or is it hot decomposed granite and strawberry jam? Anyway smells like CA-Italia wine. Flavors are berry driven, but balanced and complex. Bitter almond and cherry pits soaked in vodka. With bright blackberry brandy streak. This might turn some off with the high alcohol and fruit forward stuff, but I liked it and found it was pretty balanced for how ripe the grapes musta been at harvest. And there is a cute bike in the label… — 2 years ago
Whimsy on the label. Color is great. Sorta glint of gold in the silvery shimmer. Smells of lemon peels and apple-pear juice. Hint like Sauv Blanc. Flavors are balanced and smooth. Slightest of sweet with plenty of Meyer lemon and Oro Blanco grapefruit. Citrus in spades. Tannins are strong and pleasing to finish. This is still a winner. Maybe not as stunning as it was the first couple times I had it, but a perfect wine with white meats (including fish), shoshitos and lighter cheeses. — 3 years ago
Fancy castle of the Moorish style on the label. Rest of the label is pretty basic, but effective. Color is a velvety shimmer of red. See through. Smells perfumed and like herbal tinctures. Hint of smoke. Flavors are complex and chewy. Not showing much aging 7 years later. Some nice cherry-berry flavors in there. Also liqueurs or fruit brandy. But savory. This is a wine with finesse and elegance. Balanced and made for the connoisseur. — 3 years ago
Gorgeous floral bouquet features red roses, lilac, lavender and cherry blossoms above ripe red and black cherry, ripe raspberry, grilled watermelon and morels. Tart cherry palate dials into the silky groove suddenly, hinting at rose water, but resembling raspberries in a forest rain. Lightest cinnamon bark adds warmth, violet and hibiscus bites emerge, and the whole flaunts a long and sensuous length of shimmer that mystifies.

Notes from 3 hrs open. Lovely oxidative style, but good freshness to complement. On the nose: honey, marzipan, lemon oil, a shimmer of copper. On the palate, lovely mousse, fantastic acidity, very focused on the palate, with floral honey and lemon. Very clean finish. — 6 years ago
Huge milk chocoalate to Cappuccino colored eruption of thickest froth dwindles, flattening to a lunar landscape. Dark chocolate and coffee elements initiate. Machinery. Roasted almond-in-shell, vanilla and hazelnut aromas. This stout will zap the tongue with malty coffee notes that feel like a 9 volt battery connection, then shimmer in bitter arabica, dried violet, valerian root, nutmeg, clove tinges of ginger. The whole almost suggests licorice, but the flavor isolates encourage soloism. Dark chocolate abates, revealing rich roasted coffee in a splendid finish. Launch into the darkest astral day with the breakfast for champion cosmonauts. — 7 years ago
Tall and straight heavy bottle. Looks kinda cool. CA wine style. 14.0% abv. No specifics on the blend. They say it arose from the wrong hose in the wrong tank ;-). Color is ruby red with a translucent shimmer. Smells like some other red wines in that it’s fruit and the smell of old places. (Like attics, cellars and libraries full of old books). Hint of savor. Like fresh steak or lamb. Flavors are excellent. Supple and fairly elegant. There’s a cherry streak, a black licorice streak, and brightness. It’s pretty Italian styled. I’d suggest there might be some Sangiovese and/or Barbera in it. And these are excellent CA Foothill grapes, so no surprise at its finesse and grace. This is a nice El Dorado red. I’d love to try the rest of their portfolio.

Coppery gold shimmer to a medium bloody amber. Stinky warmed cured meats that were left out too long. Spiced cranberry Xmas cocktail, red raspberry puree, woody earthy cedar, with hints of tobacco and spicy fragrance/cologne. Somehow reminds me of a carnival with spicy sugary roasted nuts, cotton candy, and meats and cheeses- with some slightly stale meaty pizza. Leather and old rope. Spicy bloody raw meatiness on the palate. Great firm acidity, and zero alcohol noticed. Very well balanced and smooth with a great mineral backbone. So savory with all the meat and spice, but still has great fruitiness. — 3 years ago
Red amber glow inside mahogany. Off-white balsa crown of finest bubbles. Active, glistening, living bubbles shimmer-lacing. Planktonesque mesa-motif replete with angular minutiae bordering crystal frost. Cherry notes, hot dog bun, stony dust suggestions, Spanish moss on elm for the nostrils. Expectedly active mouthfeel shows less cherry, cola, cinnamon stick, dark flaky croissant, pepper, savory, and the slightest sarsaparilla and nutmeg if you can imagine a smooth assimilation of all of them, without any awkward protrusions, which means the loudest spices are all in check.

Didn't decant, and it started soft and supple, luscious. As it breathed, it dug its heels in a bit-- tannins came out and a bit of roughness. No question, it is French, and high quality. I feel like maybe the 3 different vintages shimmer in and out of focus or something. I do not have a uniform impression of this one. Fun. — 5 years ago
Merengue and lemon type pie haze trending toward gelèe. Top reflects the yellow highlights between large bubbles. Paul Klee meets the amoebae lacing. Honeycomb wax, meyer lemon, fruitcake pineapple, clean, fresh sliced white grapefruit, somehow sweet. Sunflower petals, corn flower, citrus flower, lime zest. Perfect mouthfeel has a tongue coating lemon marshmallow effect, with creamy citrus dichotomy, tangerine reduction of all its elements, lemon curd, grapefruit oil liqueur-ized, touches of citrus fruits shimmer into existence here then dim, to flare elsewhere on the palate. Clementine, navel orange, tangerine, kumquat, etc.; flashes. Bee pollen from citrus grove bees. Peach flower. Really decadent in its jewelry, but with an ivory milk-ness or banana smoothie as its catalyst. Somehow a cloudy sake in other ways, sweet and juicy, but balanced by the floral fang. .

Mason Ale Works Bride of Dankenstein West Coast IPA
#Gasoline colored with a purple hint to a shock white head. Bears ears lacing melts to tentacles from the deep. Orange zest breads and carrot cakes nose meet candied grapefruit and limoncello. Round palate shows restraint, builds around the beer-ness a mandorla both bread-y and zesty with citrus melange exquisite. Its darkness is not the lead as it also shows a galactic shimmer. Incredible.
