Aux Vergelesses Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2019

Bring back from France. Spicy and ripe dark fruit on nose and light but remarkable tannin and earthy touch on palate not lasting long — 2 months ago

Les Perrières Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Beautiful color. Burn copper around the rim. Nose of pomegranate, tart red cherry, dusty minerals, dry dirt, old cellar. Dusty tannins dry out the mouth quickly. Really delicate and quickly fading acidity. Palate has the dusty minerals, sand, tart red fruit, tree bark. The tannins tell me wait another 1-2 years, but the acidity says drink. The drying tannins hide the palate a bit. — 7 months ago

Akatcha Bourgogne Pinot Beurot

Outstanding white Pinot Beurot by Bize (!) skin contact gives it its color. This is the kind of “natural” wine that I like. I’ll skip the hipster wines, thank you. Alice Feiring club selection. — 4 years ago

Yes, what’s a “hipster wine”? I’d like to avoid them if I can 😄

Aux Fourneaux Savigny-les-Beaune 2006

Burgundy with pizza night? Why not. This was expressive and forward if not terribly refined, plush and expansive on the palate with bright, tangy red berries and sour cherry, while showing some secondary notes of forest floor and leather. Firm tannic spine keeps the whole thing together. Couldn’t help but polish off the whole bottle to wash down the (perhaps one too many) slices. — 5 years ago
