Great to have an Etna wine from time to time. I have read in the past that this is like an Italian Burgundy and I agree in many respects. Medium weight, earthy with bags of minerality, ultra savoury with a lovely red fruited perfume. 100% Nerello Mascalese. We have fond memories of visiting Sicily (including Etna) approx 7 or 8 years ago with Peter Scudamore-Smith MW. — 24 days ago

Black fruits galore with huge granitic expression. Super mineral, earthy and clean, with major concentration and real freshness. So alive and energetic, the fruit has incredible vigor. Has that classic ashy Cornas thing. From 6 different plots, with granite and some limestone. Fantastic. — 3 months ago
Light and bright. Great acid. Nice cherry notes. Would be a great food wine. — 4 months ago
Etna: Poured into a decanter about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2021 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears and some fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with Bing cherry, Asian five spice, porchini, oregano, crushed gravel and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Another stunner from this incredible, own-rooted parcel in the Calderara Sottana contrada featuring vines over 140 years old. Insane. Drink now with some air and through 2041. — 2 months ago

Deep concentration not so sweet. Black fruity Romano Dal Forno Amarone della Valpolicerra 06 @, , 260730 — 2 months ago
Medium ruby , with a relatively wide ruby garnet rim , healthy bright colour . Quite a lot of dried dark fruits , cassis , spiced dried cherries , dried cut herbs , coffee . On the palate this has high acidity and good extract , well integrated alcohol , though it clocks in at 15% . Dried cherry , roasted herbs , cassis , earthy touches . Good length, and quite grippy but fine tannins . Enjoyable this evening but there is no rush this will probably improve over the next 5 or so years and last well over the following 5-10 years . At Ristorante Greppia, Verona. — 3 months ago
Inama Soave Classico 2024 - Veneto Italia
Very good. Fresh, well balanced, very slightly woody, not too citrus. Goes well with almost everything, fish, seafood, poultry, grilling. SAQ Cellier — 4 months ago

At twelve years old, this is holding up remarkably well, though there’s nothing delicate about it. It’s a huge, unapologetically ripe wine, overflowing with black cherry, blackberry compote, fig and dark plum, layered with cocoa, tobacco and savory spice. The sheer volume of fruit is almost overwhelming, yet the wine never feels tired or heavy. A firm spine of acidity runs straight through the middle, keeping everything fresh and surprisingly alive. Still massive, still intense, but now showing a hint of tertiary fun as well. — 2 days ago
