Fresh, enticing, elegant.
Nose with earthy, musky raspberries, mulberries, a touch of damson plum, and a light flowery whiff
On the palate this is silky smooth. Zero rusticity, chewy tannins or sharp acidity - so often found in Montepulciano.
This has flow, energy, good depth, nice minerality underneath the fruit. And all this with 12% alc.
This is not at all what I expected! What a delight, what a nice surprise!
Very elegant, smooth, delicious.
A brilliant example the Montepulciano can deliver great wine!
Only but - you get 2 bottles of Ziereisen’s Syrah for one of this - and blind I would not be able to tell the difference.

Dark, shiny red ruby in colour.

Bright acidity and the tannins are softening.
Dark cherries, leather, black flowers, walnuts and a light, herbal earthiness.

Phenomenal example. Rustic elegance, dried red fruit, potpourri. Silky palate with enough grip to ask for butter, and enough acidity to beg for bread. — a month ago
Slightly less deep appearance, hints of garnet and a more terracotta rim . More advanced obviously with dried herbal hints , black tea , cedar , menthol, less fruits but some earthy dried cherry , cassis notes too. On the palate this shows more dried fruit character , dried cherry, dried herbs , black tea, cedar . Fresh acidity and fine tannins , saline and mineral on the palate . Good length and intensity, this is showing well at the moment . Will continue to give pleasure at this level over the next 5 -8 years — 4 months ago

Delightfully rustic. Wild strawberry, cranberry, red cherry, and sage. Light to medium bodied. Tannins are silky smooth. Would pair beautifully with grilled fish, roast poultry, or a rustic pizza. — 7 months ago

Tasty medium/full bodied Chianti Rufina. Has strong aromas of cloves upon opening , with some cherry and interesting herbal notes (primarily mint and bay leaves) emerging with some air. On the palate there are cherry, plum, anise, and cloves with some hints of leather and earthy mushrooms. Has nice freshness and smooth mouthfeel until the tannins emerge towards the finish with some grip and bitterness. Finish has good length with lingering earthy spice and fruit. On day 2, the flavors coalesced nicely with the cloves, anise, and fruit permeating the palate. Also, the tannins calmed down, resulting in a more balanced wine with a supple, fuller mouthfeel. This probably would have benefited from a one or two hour decant on day 1. — a day ago
