Fläscher Chardonnay Am Berg 2024

Lyle Fass
9.8

Completely absurd. For the first two hours, this was more about Switzerland than Chardonnay, a tight mineral coil of acidity, precision, alpine energy, and unbelievable finesse. Only later did the Chardonnay character emerge, broadening into something that felt almost like a mountain-grown Montrachet. The balance is extraordinary, standing on the cliff edge between tension and opulence without ever falling. A profound wine that rewards patience. — 2 days ago

Adank Pinot Noir 2023

Lyle Fass
9.5

Outrageous entry level Pinot Noir. Just crazy nose. The most lithe, elegant, detailed red cherry ever. A hint of dried cherry. Roses. Wow. Swiss alpine spice and green. Alpine meadow. 9.7 nose. Yowza. Palate is razor sharp with gorgeous, elegant tannins, that just short of sweet fruit thing Adank has mastered and an awesome mineral finish. Unreal stuff. — a month ago

Rich and bold, but still smooth on the palate. Notes of tobacco & cherry. — 10 months ago

Adank Alte Reben Fläsch Pinot Noir 2023

Lyle Fass
9.8

Just a stunning bottle of wine. The nose leaps out of the glad with bright, clearly defined mid season cherries. Gorgeously elegant and earthy with mineral notes that are so utterly refined you can almost smell the vines in that Alpine air. Wild flowers, so intense and pure. So supple and juicy with unreal juuuust almost not quite but barely sweet fruit which no one does like Adank. The most supple and velvety texture and finishes so delicately mineral it’s whispering. This is a stunning wine and for the $60 we sold it for one of the greatest Pinot Noir values ever. Adank is a giant. — a year ago

Brut Fläsch Pinot Noir

Lyle Fass
9.5

Terrific sparkling wine and probably the best non-French sparkling wine I have had. Beautiful Pinot Noir character, fine fruit, excellent balance, and real depth. The mousse could be a little finer, especially coming directly off a run of elite Champagne, but that is a very high-class problem. As the wine opened, the purity and precision became more apparent. Outstanding sparkling wine, even if the Swiss tax prevents it from quite reaching the level of the very best Champagnes — 2 days ago

Full range of cherry from red to black, roses; after 1 hour in the decanter it developed an interesting, smoky character. Fantastic — 21 days ago

Adank Riesling Sylvaner 2023

Nose is hyper floral. Melon, wild mint, savory, MT on steroids yet lyrical. Stunning, sappy, deep, loads of dry extract, unreal density and juiciness. Such succulence, freshness, density and dry extract but with powerful fruit clarity. Love the bitter citrus pith on the finish. — 10 months ago

Fläscher Herrenacher Pinot Noir 2022

Lyle Fass
9.9

One of the great Pinot Noirs I have had in recent years. Massively reduced for the first twenty minutes, then blossomed like a stop-motion flower. High-toned red fruit, flowers, spice, and extraordinary precision, but what separates it is the balance. Patrick Adank walks right to the edge with acidity, low alcohol, and fruit restraint, yet never loses harmony. The wine gained detail, depth, and beauty with every minute in the glass. A wine for decades, not years. 9.9–10.0. I need another day with it before I decide which. — 2 days ago

Adank Pinot Blanc 2023

Pinot Blanc is usually “meh” in vinous form but not when it’s made by Patrick Adank. Varietally correct but oh so much more. Unreal purity and out of control finesse. So long, dense, nimble and stunning. Just insane mouthfeel. Art. — a year ago
