Campbell Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2019 Pinot Noir Campbell Ranch is fabulous. Complex and multi-dimensional, the 2019 is dynamic and super-expressive. Rose petal, lavender, spice, sage and mint play off a core of dark red/purplish berry fruit. This is a terrific Pinot from the northern part of the West Sonoma Coast. Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2015

For an entry level appellation west coast Pinot, this is right down the middle of the fairway. Ruby in the glass with cedar, birch wood, sweet cherry and cola on the nose. The palate is a bit darker bringing on sweet tobacco, black cherry and a rhubarb tart spice. I think this is $45’ish/bottle, so in terms of QPR, I’ll buy Rivers-Marie SC bottle all day over this, and while I’m not with AGalloni’s 93 rating, I’m not too far off. — 8 years ago

West Ridge Pinot Noir 2012

Feels like it hasn't evolved much, just softened a bit. Earthy, viscous, lingering primary notes.

Fleshy cherry and cedar with soft tannins and minerals to think a little bit about.

Stone Crusher Skin Ferment El Dorado Roussanne 2016

Purchased a bottle from the reserve list at the winery earlier this year. Consumed with miso sablefish and lentils with cherries and basil. Rich golden hue, cloudy honeycomb-like. Nose is like dried leaves and cider mill, fall like aromas. Hints of petrol & citrus. This just explodes with bitter apricot, citrus, intense acidity. Complex layers keep coming. Orange juice and zest in a sweet morning bun. Oxidative nuttiness like toasted salted almonds. Super long finish. Amazing stuff. — 6 years ago
