Color me shocked. Up there with one of the more surprising bottles of the year (alongside an old Carlisle Cardiac Syrah). Had very little hope, but was completely and pleasantly surprised.
Cork split in two coming out. Trusty Durand saved the day. First small pour was not encouraging…lots of funk. After leaving alone for 30mins, the faded ruby with tinge of black in the glass had aromatics of sous bois, black tea, and dirty red and black berries. On the palate, this was elegant showing more herbal/earthy notes, dark berry fruit in the background, sweet pipe tobacco and a still-tart finish with both acidity and tannin. I have to admit that if someone said this was older burgundy, I could see it in the realm of possibilities. No sappy, rich, cola type notes here. Open and enjoy! — a month ago
Lite notes of cola and stewed plums on the nose. Palate displays a supple tannic structure, but lacks the density and texture I have come to expect from this bottling. Comes across as somewhat hollow on the mid palate. Serviceable, but not great in my mind. — a month ago
Double decanted two night prior. The 2016 Rose Rock pours a pale ruby color with no staining of the tears. On the nose, effusive fresh strawberry, red flowers and mint. Medium structure. Unmistakably New World with a heavy dose of inspiration from Burgundy and while this has plenty of substance, it’s all about the fruit and super clean; almost cutesy, very demure. Balanced. Drink now but should drink well through 2031. — 12 days ago
Loving this. Very affordable. Dark fruits for a Pinot. Will get it again. — 20 days ago
Amazing Yamhill Pinot — 6 days ago
Ripe black cherry and blackberry fruit backbone with some earth and herbaceous richness. Light but lush on the palate with tart blackberry acidity, some soft but present mouth-coating tannins. Suspecting whole cluster fermentation? Nearly perfect, just wanting a little less tartness on a damp November night. — 14 days ago
Wow not you normal Pinot… heavy thick balanced — 9 days ago
Lots of sun drenched orchard fruit on the nose, confirmed on the palate. Ripe pear and apple, some baking spices but not overpowering. Medium plus finish. I think the balance of the fruit and acidity is off; 14.1 percent abv; if it was 13-13.5 with a slightly less ripe fruit profile and more acid it would be better. — a month ago

2022 vintage. Light-medium body. Cola nut, clove and rhubarb along for the ride. Fairly dependably offering for the last decade from a solid producer. 11.20.24. — 4 days ago
