See quite a few previous Delectable notes. Interesting back story about Fermoy Estate being served at the wedding of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark to Sydney girl, Mary Donaldson. This is my last bottle. A deep dark crimson. A lovely nose of blackcurrant, eucalyptus and herbs. Palate of medium intensity showing those aromatics. A pretty good Margaret River Cabernet from the Wilyabrup district. Probably doesn’t get the credit it deserves being overshadowed by its more famous neighbours in Moss Wood, Woodlands, Vasse Felix and Cullen. — 2 years ago
2017 vintage. Plummy, summer oak woodlands/forest nose. Medium body. Slightly more fruit-driven than the excellent 2016 that was sleeker with a little more acidity and a long-ager. This effort is still really nice and another beautiful entry into the historical, Antinori wine library. 4.5.23. — 3 years ago
Excellent quality for the price ($37). Ripe peach, grilled nuts and a touch of guava. Oak has been absorbed. Ticks all the boxes of a quality Australian Chardonnay. This is a lesser Cuvée to their top notch Chardonnay, “Chloe”. Congratulations to Stuart Watson and the Woodlands winemaking team. — 6 months ago
Incredibly youthful - opaque dark ruby in colour. Aromas of mulberry, cigar box, herbs, cassis, and bracken. This wine has a lot of intestinal fortitude (guts) and will live well past 2030. Longer living than most experts drinking window. This is the top Cuvée from Woodlands, always named after a family member or friend, in this case, Nicolas. Have the next in 2 years. — a year ago
See previous note from February 2023. A full bodied Margaret River Cabernet - cassis and herbs. This is really good. From the dress circle Wilyabrup area of northern Margaret river with neighbours like Moss Wood, Woodlands, Vasse Felix and Cullen etc. Barb said woody notes (not meaning oak influence). All the best Margaret River Cabernet attributes with the texture and mouthfeel of an excellent Barossa Shiraz. We both loved this wine. Have the last one in mid 2025. — 2 years ago
2009 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 30 mins and 1.5 hours. Small traces of sediment. Good cork. Woodlands nose with a touch of spearmint. Light body. Subtle concentration with earthiness and lingering, delicate flavors. An absolute joy to taste red Burgs such as this with a bit of age on them. A portal to the past. 6.30.24. — a year ago
2015 vintage. Really well balanced at this point. Medium body. No sharp edges or outstanding, individual components screaming to be noticed. Pretty well blended and viable now and should stay as such for the next 7-10 years. Silkiness up top, rhubarb + caramelized cranberry mid-palate and recent storm woodlands on the finish. Consistent producer both white and red Burgs. 3.15.23. — 3 years ago
