2009 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 30 mins and 1.5 hours. Small traces of sediment. Good cork. Woodlands nose with a touch of spearmint. Light body. Subtle concentration with earthiness and lingering, delicate flavors. An absolute joy to taste red Burgs such as this with a bit of age on them. A portal to the past. 6.30.24. — 5 months ago
See previous Delectable notes for the 2007 “Nicolas”. Incredibly youthful in colour, nose and palate for 17 years. Full bodied and powerful still with years to go. Palate shows blackcurrant, mulberry and spice. This is a wine where most experts underestimated the drinking window. Sadly I only have one bottle left and I will leave until at least 2027 when it is 20 years old, and preferably longer if I can summon the willpower. — a month ago
Cassis, black fruits and the Margaret River/Woodlands herbal influence but mainly a fruit driven palate. Well blended with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 17% Petit Verdot and 11% Malbec. From a good Margaret River vintage. Amazing value at only $37 and an excellent match with Roast Pork. Shows the Woodlands expertise in handling Margaret River Cabernet at all price points. — 3 months ago
2022 vintage. This is unadulterated, old-school OR pinot. No plushiness. No voluptuousness. Zero hedonism. Lean, clean and mean. Light-medium body with the tannic punch of an older sibling. Dark fruits/stems, woodlands presence and earthiness setting up camp. Haven't tasted a "food wine" more food wine than this in a while. 5.15.24. — 6 months ago
A beautiful top shelf Margaret River Cabernet drinking well at 16 years of age. Deep Ruby in colour. You would never know it was that age from the colour. My 2nd last bottle. A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. Trademark herbaceous notes with mulberry and spice. 2008 was a hot and dry vintage in Margaret River. Severe winds at flowering drastically reduced the crop to the lowest yet recorded - under 1 tonne per acre. Shelley Anne named after Stuart Watson’s wife. Stuart is the chief winemaker and one of the owners. — 2 months ago
See quite a few previous Delectable notes. Interesting back story about Fermoy Estate being served at the wedding of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark to Sydney girl, Mary Donaldson. This is my last bottle. A deep dark crimson. A lovely nose of blackcurrant, eucalyptus and herbs. Palate of medium intensity showing those aromatics. A pretty good Margaret River Cabernet from the Wilyabrup district. Probably doesn’t get the credit it deserves being overshadowed by its more famous neighbours in Moss Wood, Woodlands, Vasse Felix and Cullen. — 8 months ago
See previous note from February 2023. A full bodied Margaret River Cabernet - cassis and herbs. This is really good. From the dress circle Wilyabrup area of northern Margaret river with neighbours like Moss Wood, Woodlands, Vasse Felix and Cullen etc. Barb said woody notes (not meaning oak influence). All the best Margaret River Cabernet attributes with the texture and mouthfeel of an excellent Barossa Shiraz. We both loved this wine. Have the last one in mid 2025. — a year ago

My last bottle of 2015 Woodlands Chloe. Quite restrained - very well made. Everything in balance at 9 years of age. Last bottle we had was in early 2023 - matched with the 2015 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay and some tasters preferred the 2015 Chloe. White peach. Not too lean, not too full bodied - perfect balance - a “goldilocks” Margaret River Chardonnay. Woodlands is better known for its stellar Cabernet and Cabernet blends but also makes this fine Chardonnay. — 13 days ago
