Cantina Di Montalcino

Poggio Antico

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Medium ruby color. Aromas of mushrooms, forest floor, black cherries and wildflowers. Leaning toward dried blackberry fruit on the palate with additional notes of black cherry, balsamic vinegar, black pepper and dried herbs. Wonderful salty/earthy note on the long and lingering finish. So complex and lively. Medium bodied and well layered. Chalky tannins. Big 15% alcohol content but who cares? Outstanding vintage from an outstanding producer. Thanks for sharing, Keith S! — 13 days ago

Case Basse di Gianfranco Soldera

Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2004

An outstanding bottle similar to the previous times I have had it. 3 hour slow ox and then decanted at dinner. Went brilliantly with white truffles! Had the Caprili with the veal and the body may have suited the veal but the Soldera was the WOTN — 6 days ago

Argiano

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

2019 vintage. PNP'd. Medium-heavy body. Lots of extraction and fruit along with corresponding tannic presence. Youthful but still in balance as we speak. A bit aggro as far as Brunello styles go but backing up the hype. Need to revisit in a half-decade after this has a kid and has to settle down and get a job that pays the bills. 10.22.24. — 24 days ago

Castiglion del Bosco

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2017

Remember the scene in Downton Abbey when Lady Mary Crawley has to jump in and save her pigs? That’s this wine. Bold, feisty, rich and strong. Won’t hesitate to get down and dirty when working. Will still have enough energy to cook you an omelette afterwards. I have no fucking clue if I’m making any sense… — a day ago

Conti Costanti

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Silky tannins, black cherries and strawberries. Evolving nicely in the glass. Fine now but will become more complex and has a long life in front of it. — 10 hours ago

Grosso! Might be too big if I wasn’t tasting twenty-five other wines. Still, it was quite nice and I would revisit w something tomato. — 13 days ago

Casanova di Neri

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2018

On nose, its warm and ripe fruits there, oak, black cherries, some white pepper. On palate, wine is medium bodied, fruit is still fresh despite of some aging, tannic at the end, and elevated acidity. This still need some time, try it after 2026 if you can hold it. Cheers! — 17 hours ago

Marchesi de' Frescobaldi

Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Beautifully aged, enjoyed in 2024, great balance of dark fruits, mellow tannins, and a touch of acid. Great wine! — 6 days ago

E. Fuligni (Cottimelli)

Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2017

2017 vintage. Not much on the nose currently. PNP'd. Medium body. Darker fruit (plum, cherry, blackberry) with the corresponding musculature. Some tannins but mostly dispersed to the peripheries at the moment. Needs a few years/hours open but showing nicely for a less than "A" vintage. 10.22.24. — 24 days ago
