Bright medium ruby , perhaps a little more ruby on the rim than the Clos de la Dioterie . More sweetly fruited , with more red fruits than dark , spiced cherry , strawberry, raspberry , rose , roast red pepper, cranberry. Quite rounded tannin , balanced acidity . On the palate mixed summer fruits with strawberry , red cherry with good density, quite juicy but well balanced . Roasted pepper , spicy cherry , wet slate infused finish with medium length. This probably will improve over the next 5 or so years and last well a further 5-8 — 14 days ago

2024/8/24 with wagyu lemon steak. Perhaps not fully open right now, but lovely nonetheless. Lots of juicy red cherry and berries with hints of forest floor, flower petals and high-toned spices on the nose. The palate undulates between lush approachability and reserve, but this is wonderful wine with a lot more ahead — a month ago

2024/8/13-14. I don’t know that I actually prefer this to the regular Volnay at this stage; this is more dense, but at this point that manifests as a bit of dried, even raisiny fruit at times. There is still that elegant red fruit essence and a slightly rose-like floral note , though — 2 months ago
