Château Pavillon Figeac

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

This is surprisingly good for a bargain-priced St. Emmie. Nose shows clear, ripe plummy Merlot fruit, some clay-inflected earth, some underbrush, and subtle, pleasant vegetal note. Very nice balance and mouthfeel. Not a bruiser, but more on the elegant side. Fruit, tannin, acids all nicely dancing together. I like this a lot! — 13 days ago

@Tom Casagrande, I have always had a soft spot for St. Emilion, my favorite of all the Bordeaux communes (well, at least taking pricing into account)!!

"Le Pavillon" Ermitage Syrah 2020

Power, poise and precision. Black fruit galore, spice, bacon and butcher shop, bonfire, smoke, olives, garrique - an incredible nose that gave me goosebumps. Perfect balance, immense intensity and just spot on. — a month ago

Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Mild bouquet of dusty dark fruit. Quick mild sour cherries upfront with a dusty fruit mild tobacco finish. Definitely old world style. — 3 months ago

Château Figeac

Petit-Figeac Red Blend 2019

In Roman times, the estate belonged to a family called Figeacus, main villa stood on the site of the present château. Traces of the original pipework remain. A nice blend of Cab Sauv, Merlot & Cab Franc with berry fruit aromas, cigar box spice and floral notes. This 2nd wine shows flavors of blackberry and cherry with spice and oak on soft fine tannins. Full-bodied, long finish ending with fruit and earthy mineral. Good now m, cellar over next 5 years. — 8 days ago

Domaine du Pavillon Meursault Pinot Noir 2014

Sturdy. Plenty of oak and tannin with highish acid. Needs a couple hours of air then starts to open up. Intensely structured wine. Not giving up a ton of fruit. Mushrooms and cranberries. Long finish. Yeah that’s pretty pretty good 👍🏼 — 8 days ago

Domaine du Pavillon Clos des Ursulines Pommard Pinot Noir 2020

2020 vintage. This alternate property naming nonsense is a real pita for a wine list. Trying to keep it G-rated but biting my tongue something fierce. Despite all that, still picked this up. Plenty of headaches but oodles of staying power. 11.20.24. — 5 days ago
