Remember the scene in Downton Abbey when Lady Mary Crawley has to jump in and save her pigs? That’s this wine. Bold, feisty, rich and strong. Won’t hesitate to get down and dirty when working. Will still have enough energy to cook you an omelette afterwards. I have no fucking clue if I’m making any sense… — 6 days ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Consistent throughout. The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with lovely notes of tart and ripe red and black fruit: Morello cherry, blackberry, black tea, dried green herbs, dry gravelly earth, and theres a little bit of VA too. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and zippy with a very elegant texture. A lovely example of the 2020 vintage. Drink now through 2035. — 21 days ago
On nose, its warm and ripe fruits there, oak, black cherries, some white pepper. On palate, wine is medium bodied, fruit is still fresh despite of some aging, tannic at the end, and elevated acidity. This still need some time, try it after 2026 if you can hold it. Cheers! — 6 days ago
Served alongside beef short rib, xo sauce, pickled mustard seed, cumin stir-fried asparagus. This bottle of 2006 was throwing a ton of sediment. Showing mostly red fruits with red currants, new leather, tobacco, earth, forest floor, baking spices…a touch green. Hello Cabernet Franc!! Good structure. The finish is long. Every time I have the opportunity to enjoy Sassicaia, I am reminded why it’s one of the great wines of Italy. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. Drink now through 2036. — 19 days ago

Grosso! Might be too big if I wasn’t tasting twenty-five other wines. Still, it was quite nice and I would revisit w something tomato. — 18 days ago

Medium ruby in color; cherries, tomato leaves, and tabacco on the nose; high acidity; medium tannins; tastes like red currants, raspberries, black paper, dried herbs, and clay pots with a long finish. I love this wine, but Nellie didn'tlike it. — 12 days ago
