Deep ruby coloration. On the nose, dark berry, cassis, forest floor, minerals and earth, cherry, cocoa powder, plum and vanilla. On the palate, dark berry , blueberry, cherry, smokey vanilla, and secondary and tertiary notes of oak, espresso, and chocolate. 2021 vintage. Medium-medium heavy body. Trademark voluptuousness/ blanket swaddling there in the early/mid going. Fell off on the finish with a bit of lingering tartness. Loved the 2016 and 2017. This is that but it ain't (all) that if you know what I mean. 3.25.26. — 21 days ago
Loved it! Unlike that last Chianti I tried which took an hour to open up (starting WAY too fruity and milding off), this was delicious right away. Started very earthy and drinkable immediately, the earthiness became less pronounced and became slightly more fruity as it opened. Excellent wine! — 4 days ago
My review may not be beneficial to all because of my drinking style. I drink the bottle myself over the course of a week. With this Freakshow Cab Sauv, my review changed from the first to last glass. The first glass was strong, thin, and barely enjoyable. With subsequent glasses tasted a developing sweetness and thickness. I realize this is counter intuitive to wines normally being best when being allowed to breathe a bit after opening. Just wasn’t the case for me with this one. Rating was a 6.5 to start and a 9.5 at the end I’m grading with a curve to give it an overall 9. Will buy again based on Freakshow reputation and hope for a better early result. — 4 days ago
