Medium lemon yellow . Quite closed at first , this improves with air , actually was finished the following day . White flowers , camomile , quite chalky , a bit funky also . On the palate quite strict and direct , with quite sharp acidity , which does stick out a little bit . Quite lean on the palate On the palate there are notes of lemon , wet stone and white flowers . Quite good mineral , stony length . I can imagine this still ageing quite well , but it probably won’t improve very much . — 3 months ago
Stunning QPR here. It would be a buy at twice the price. — 8 days ago
Hard to find Extra Brut in 375 ml’s where I shop and seek online. This is very solid always. Bouzy also one of my favorite places for champagne.
For a Pinot that is 80% of the blend here, you sure get lots of green apple, golden apple & apple cider. There is noticeable tangerine, white citrus blend-lemon, lime & both grapefruits. Ginger & ginger-ale, sea fossils/spray, limestone marl w/ bits, bread dough to baguette crust, graham cracker crust, malt, volcanic minerals w/ash, lighter caramel, butterscotch candy, vanillin, frothy cream, white orchids and spring flowers, lively, zippy acidity, well; toned, structured, balance with a beautiful two- minute finish that lands on minerals & spice. — a month ago

Grapefruit and plenty of mineral on both nose and palate. Some austerity as you often get with Saint Aubin. As Jasper Morris MW describes the terroir - “A steep south west facing vineyard overlooking the hamlet of Gamay. It offers attractive wines but not in the First Division of St-Aubin.” The following night notes of mandarin on the palate with the ever present mineral. — 3 months ago
From a 1ha parcel of vines nearing 100 years old. If memory serves me correctly, Catherine and Pierre had introduced biodynamic practices the previous year (1994).
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 1995 Les Perrières pours a deep garnet with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of brambles, Poblano pepper, purple flowers, graphite, leather, a touch of horse blanket, some fine warm spices and gravelly minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, grippy and mineral laden. Delicious. I love where this wine is at today. Drink now but well stored examples will likely live well past 2035. — 4 months ago
I have dreamed of the 1981 Grange for many, many years. Why? Well, it’s quite simple: I’m an ‘81 baby and that year doesn’t have the strongest reputation for producing great wines. Spain and Italy faired better and of course, there were always exceptions. However, most have long been drank or forgotten as it was a tough year in many of the classic wine growing regions. All of that being said, Australia didn’t suffer the same conditions and Penfold’s managed to make a very good expression of Grange in 1981…if only one could find it and then of course, afford it. But, sometimes you just have to put it out into the universe and she answers. Tonight, a dear brother in wine who also happens to share 1981 as a birth year, provided this bottle from his cellar to share. And while my 45th remains a couple months off, we were celebrating life and friendship tonight!
Opened prior to dinner and enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 1981 pours a deep purple color moving towards a garnet rim and a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and desiccated tart black, red and blue fruits and rotundone: blackberries, raspberries, plum, tobacco, purple flowers, black olive, cocoa, coffee, eucalyptus, leather, toasted coconut, earth and baking spices. On the palate the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is looooong. What a stellar showing and this bottle certainly lived up to hype. Drink now through 2041+. — 4 months ago
Beautiful, whip-smart Northern Rhône Syrah with blackberry, violets, granite and, after air, a gorgeous olive note running through both the nose and palate. The texture is sleek and refined, with excellent freshness, fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. Not quite as complete or tightly composed as the monumental 2019, but still an exceptional Gonon and a brilliant expression of the vintage. — a month ago

A grower champagne I always enjoy, but I’ve not had their special club offering with this much age before. I’ve been missing out! A stunner!
54% Cramant, 31% Chouilly (both Grand Crus), with 15% Cuis (Premier Cru); all old vines. Disgorged July 2012; 6g/l dosage
This may be an example of hitting lightening in a bottle, but this caught me (and others I was with) totally off-guard at how youthful it was…and more importantly, how unbelievably good it was. Channeling an oxidative flair at this point in its evolution, this scratched the itch for creamy, powerful, golden champagne. Autolysis on full display (in the best way) with lemon scone, honey roasted cashews, spiced pears aromatically. Honeyed graham crackers, lemon cream, Biscotti cookie, kiss of ginger and plenty of chalky limestone grit toward the finish (but the sweet autolysis lengthens it out beautifully). For me, this tasted like this was the exact right day to catch this wine at peak.
I wish I had a case of these. — 2 months ago

Quite light ruby garnet , wide garnet rim . A bit funky at first on the nose , touch farmyardy , then opens up to show some cherry , dried rose , touch earthy , herbal notes . On the palate this is again slightly funky , quite edgy acidity , touches of dried cherry , slightly gritty chalky notes . This needs time in the glass to show its best and does get better , but this might not be the best bottle . However , shows it mineral , herbal and dried cherry touches on the reasonable length finish . Drink now and over the next few years . At Restaurant Les Caudalies , Arbois — 3 months ago

Slightly disappointed, had higher hopes based on the reviews. Although company was great, NYT, couch, candle, cheeseboard. #CPtheVP — a day ago
