Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend 1999

This is clearly more evolved than the 1999 Beaucastel CdP, but with that said, it’s still a terrific 25-year-old Côtes du Rhône, nice balance, medium-long finish, definitely mature, time to drink up! — 2 days ago

So velvety and soft. Thus super precise and with a very long goose bumby finish — 25 days ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc White Rhone Blend 2013

Some tangy orange notes and a complex yet fresh palate. Oily with white flowers, white pepper, lime and stone in the finish. Very good — 7 months ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 1999

Great color, still very youthful at age 25, this paired perfectly with some farm-raised elk loins we purchased in Reno 3 months ago that I grilled on the Weber, complex, long finish, really quite fine!! — 2 days ago

Classic. Lots of nice berry flavor. Not much length. — 2 months ago

Coudoulet de Beaucastel Cotes-du-Rhone White Rhone Blend 2014

This wine offers equal parts richness and steeliness with oxidative qualities next to freshness and verve. It benefits from some time in the glass, coming up to a slightly chilled temp (versus fully chilled).

It has a gorgeous golden hue with medium (+) aromas and flavors of yellow apple, white peach, nectarine, honeydew, chamomile, orange blossom, toasted hazelnut, beeswax, delicate struck match (that faded as the wine opened up), ground white pepper, and wet slate notes.

On the palate, it’s dry with medium alcohol, clocking in at 13% ABV, and a vibrant acidity, lending balance and lift.

Its varieties include 30% Bourboulenc, 30% Marsanne, 30% Viognier, and 10% Clairette.
This wine vinified and matured (for 8 mos) in a combination of oak and stainless steel tanks.

From what we understand the 2014 vintage in the Southern Rhône was tricky, and less than ideal... but here’s to tasting these wines with a little bottle age to discover how meticulous practices in the vineyard and winery can produce a wine of beauty, complexity, and resilience, despite facing nature’s adversity!

Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 1990

Side by side with the 1989. Out of the gate this just showed better. Savory, dried herbs, a bit of leather and tar. But by the end the 89 was just better. — 24 days ago
