Four Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2019

The 2019 Chardonnay Four is stunning, with a detailed, singular perfume of baked apples and preserved lemon with touches of curry spice and graphite. The full-bodied palate is satiny and textural, combining nutty, honeyed fruits, tangy acidity and stony mineral character, and it finishes with tremendous length. What an incredible expression! — 5 hours ago

Lovely dark gold color. Butter, camomile, and many other components in a very complex nose. Rich and complex on the palate that is definitely high quality. Long finish. Love this wine! — 2 months ago

Reserva de la Tierra

Satis Dei Exclusive Art Collection Syrah Garnacha 2023

This wine is dark purple/garnet in the glass. The nose offers up considerable black fruit, such as blackberries, plums, and blackcurrant. It also offers up considerable oak effect, even though the wine’s exposure to wood was minimal. The oak comes through heavily on the palate as well, obscuring some nice dark fruit flavors. The artwork on the label is nice, but the artwork inside the bottle can’t live up to it. — a month ago

SBC Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2022

Fantastic presentation of red fruit, one of the better California Pinot Noirs I tried recently. — 4 months ago

Leeuwin Estate

Art Series Margaret River Chardonnay 2016

Presented double-blind. The wine pours a light straw color with medium viscosity and no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is developing with tart and ripe notes of apple, pear, underripe pineapple, lemon curd, nuts and minerals. I felt like there was some deft use of oak. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+, bordering on high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and chocked full of minerals. My immediate impression was Bourgogne Blanc and I was having a hard time getting away from it. So I called Chardonnay, from France, Burgundy, Chassagne-Montrachet with 3-5 years of age. Gosh dammit! Margaret River strikes again!!! Blind, I always seem to call these Chablis or some other high quality white Burg. And I adore the Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnays. They always impress me. Drink now through 2036. — a month ago

Idisma Drios Drama Assyrtiko 2020

Really enjoyable wine. Had the 2020 in July of 2024 with Greek lemon chicken, tzatziki and a salad. Hints of lemon with some creamy vanilla overtones. Super interesting. Would drink again. — 7 months ago
