Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Cabernet from Napa will never be great, but this is damn good for being a Cabernet from Napa. Sugar is more muted than is the norm for the region. — 14 days ago

Montes Alpha M Santa Cruz Apalta Single Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Must love roasted veggies. But this has shed some of its oak and youthful reduction. In a good spot with another 5-10 years of interest. — 2 months ago

Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Nice long legs, dark purplish color hints of cherry and coco and nice balance from the American oak soften tannins but still a full body — 2 days ago

Chante - Alouette Hermitage Blanc Marsanne 2019

I can’t get over this wine! The first word that comes to mind is luscious!! Ripe peaches and pear, smoke, pineapple, chamomile, tree bark and limestone. I need a case and now I can’t find it - should’ve bought more!!! — a month ago

Les Greffieux Ermitage Syrah 2013

This is a very tannic 11 year old Syrah from Northern Rhône.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Showing red fruits with earth, wood, spices, peppercorn, chocolates, tobacco, graphite, dark coffee, light barnyard and peppercorn.

Grippy finish with raspberries.

Needs many more years to mature properly.

100% Syrah grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$150.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Solid Napa Cab, pretty floral and chocolate notes mixed with sweet tobacco leaf, oak and dark fruit. Drank a bit young, tannins got pretty grippy and gave me a slight headache, but overall a nice wine — 16 days ago

"La Mordorée" Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2016

Very approachable and seamless. Dark fruits, iron, terracotta, citrus. Chapoutier always delivers serious wines. — 3 months ago

La Bernardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2011

75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre —a total stunner she is, drinkable now with a body to go the difference. The nose brings red fruits (plums, cherries, strawberries) and roses and rose petals. The palate is silky-smooth, fresh fruit giving way to tootsie roll and stewed fruit flavors, augmented by earth and sanguine balsamic grooves, a bit of herbal garrigue carrying the day. The finish carries on, persistent and solidly ethereal if we can make that a thing. — 3 months ago
