Radici Riserva Taurasi Aglianico 1997

Popped and poured into red Solo cups. The 1997 “Radici” Riserva pours a garnet color with a near opaque core and a slightly orange rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe, tart, and some desiccated fruit: Montmorency cherry, plum, licorice, smoked meat, balsamico, a mix of organic and inorganic earth, exotics spices and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tanning and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and earthy. This was quite the departure from the Napa wines surrounding it but made a statement. Drink now through 2037. — a month ago

Radici Taurasi Aglianico 2017

v17. Pretty good! First time with this area. Pleasant peppery, cedar and black cherry nose. Luscious, deep, black cherry fruit. Long, chewy, slightly astringent leather finish. Enjoyable! — 2 months ago

Ok but really does not blow my doors off. Raspberry mostly. Needs air and gets better. — 20 days ago

Sounds right. Solid mid-tier producer. But. Improving relative to decade ago.

CapoVolto Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2021

Structure is on point: high acidity, long finish, full mouthfeel. Flavors are a jumbled mess though. Bruised fruit is primary. Clean up some of that and this would be fire. — 3 months ago
