First sentence is a tester. Now the full note. We don’t often have Grand Cru Burgundy but we had roast duck legs on Mother’s Day. An intensity to the nose - Sous Bois/Compost heap with savoury red fruits - smoky with a hint of pepper. Many of the experts are saying a high influence of stems in the ferment is apparent and I totally agree. Interestingly Richard Hemming MW gave the wine 19.5/20 and said “This is what all the Burgundy fuss is all about.” Continuing to evaluate - this wine has a beautiful nose (very Morey one taster said). In summary a magnificent wine with great persistence. One of the 1001 Wines. Clos des Lambrays can trace its history back to the 14th century. — 20 days ago
Medium light garnet with wide light garnet rim . This is quite open and delicate on the nose , touches of rose , cranberry , raspberry and sweet strawberry , very pretty and precise . Some spice and earthy hints underneath . On the palate this is quite sappy with fine tannins and balanced acidity. Red cherry and raspberry fruits , floral and well balanced , quite delicate but certainly with enough intensity on the palate and a silky mouthfeel . This still comes across as quite fruit driven and very refined and balanced , with good freshness . Long red fruit driven finish , just some hints of earthiness , mineral underneath . Vibrant and bright . Drinking well but still with time to go , now and over the next 5 years or so . This doesn’t grow with time in the glass as much as the Richebourg , but still showed well over the 2 hours we had it open. — a month ago

Initially a bit closed, after two hours in the decanter this really opens up. Black cherry and sage come through on the nose and continue onto the palate with additional notes of cassis, bay leaf, and cloves. Has a persistent finish with herbs, spice, and black tea lingering on the palate. The herbal and spice flavors were really vibrant when paired with basil pesto pasta and mushrooms. Medium+ acidity, medium+ body, and medium tannins. This is the 2021 vintage. — a month ago

This is my second Temperance Hill pinot, and I’m finding I’m a big fan. This opens with striking aromatics. Dark cherry, slow roasted strawberry, raspberry, incense, sage, thyme, and cloves all come through on the nose, with floral notes and forest floor peaking through with time in the glass. The flavors on the palate mirror the nose, with outstanding depth. There’s fresh acidity that amplifies the fruit but doesn’t overwhelm. The finish leaves incense, cloves, black tea, and a saline minerality lingering on the palate. Well balanced with good acidity and medium/firm tannins. I can see this aging well. Vintage is 2019. — 10 days ago
