Conca Tre Pile Barbera d'Alba 2021

2021 vintage. A bit of everything. Esteemed producer. Excellent nose. Front-palate richness. Mid-palate power and presence. Pleasantly astringent and beyond substantial finish. I usually eschew Barbera d'Alba for the resto list but couldn't deny this one. Picked up two cases and may pick up more to have laying around for 1.5-2 years. At the ridiculous resto price of $26.67, I can't afford not to. So delicious. 01.29.25. — 7 days ago

Riserva Gran Bussia Barolo Nebbiolo 1989

An interesting wine. I have limited experience with 30+ year old Barolos. This one showed that age more than my others. Menthol, balsamic and raisiny. But those were all background or secondary notes with the mature fruit and heft this mature wine had. I decanted and consumed over 4 hours. It opened up after 3 hours and was a more rounded experience. Fantastic aged Barolo color too - the pale orangy combined with a unique deep red. Beautiful. — 7 months ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2004

Belated post from Mother’s Day dinner. This was in full splendor at 20 years old. It was ready and had many secondary notes intertwined with primary flavors of rose petals, leather, wood shavings, yes the tar was there but not as pronounced as I have found in younger Barolos from Conterno. A gem found in the cellar that I’m glad I didn’t wait another day to open. — 9 months ago

Romirasco Bussia Barolo Nebbiolo 2005

Very impressive showing for this Barolo, elegant & complex with red cherry, strawberry, menthol, lots of spice, dried herbs, rose petal & a smoky, tar note — 10 days ago

Bussia Barolo Nebbiolo 1995

1995 Bussia Barolo.
Still holding a deep red core with a bit of fading at the rim…impressive.
Dried Bing cherries, dried roses and flowers on the nose.
Dried red fruit, cherries and plums with mint and mushrooms.
Tannins are disappearing but the acidity is still so smooth.
A friend foraged for local Matsutake mushrooms and we made risotto with black summer truffles.

Riserva Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2019

Small, family owned winery farmed organically by hand. The riserva has 3 years in oak and could use a little more time to integrate, but already it’s very elegant and aromatic. Beautiful and soulful wine showing very primary right now with raspberry, cherry, balsamic, a bit of leather and licorice with air — 2 months ago
