2020 vintage. 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Owned by the Despagne family since 1812, and the current 7th generation (François Despagne) seems to be serious about quality. This 2020 displays impressive aromatics, concentration, depth, and precision, with fresh acidity balancing the 15% abv. — 14 days ago
Popped, double-decanted, and poured. Engaging right out of the gate. Rich nose shows deep cassis and dark berries, underbrush, graphite, and low-toned minerality. Rich on the attack, with mouth-coating, clingy fruit that later shows persistent savory and dark mineral notes. The tannins are there but are overwhelmed by the fruit. Really nice concentration with zero jamminess and loads of elegance. Nice but subtle acids. Very impressed with this. — 26 minutes ago

Garnet core , terracotta rim . Spiced red fruit undergrowth , touch of brown sugar , grafite , tobacco , dried mushroom, touch of smoke . On the palate quite elegant red fruited , dried cranberry , red currant , still very much alive , just enough acidity. Slightly short on the finish , but with a round palate and a slightly sweet , brown sugar tinged finish . Still very much alive and enjoyable . Better than expected — 13 days ago
