Vega Sicilia started purchasing Toro vineyards in 1997 but didn’t release Pintia until ‘01. 100% Tinta de Toro, thick-skinned clone of Tempranillo, beautiful color, complex aromas of fruit & floral spice. Aged, 18 months, French & American oak, 15% stainless due to very dry year. On the palate pronounced fresh dark berry fruit flavors, smoky oak notes, well balanced with acidity. 90/10 Temperanillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is heavy with espresso bean and dark chocolate overshadowing the fruit. Flavors of tart cherry and cranberry giving way to eucalyptus, cedar, Luden's. Whew, it's tight!
