Really impressive on opening. Tastes like a Pinot noir should. Cherries, rose, a bit of fern like hiking in CA redwood grove, there’s some strawberry, some dust, plum skin. Interestingly the aftertaste, maybe 20 seconds later suddenly has a sweetness to it that I really enjoy. Drinking really well now on opening. Grateful to try this. — 7 months ago
Strong alcohol taste, esp at first. Needs to open up a bit, then full of flavor and gives a nice buzz quickly due to high alcohol content. — 5 days ago
This 2022 is next level. Have had several Rhône whites recently and this is a standard bearer. So focused. About editing and restraint with subtle hints of this and that without hitting you over the with anything. Dominated by Rousanne which explains its elegance and subtlety. Has a honeyed fresh slightly poached apricot and apple combo with whiffs of baking spices. Great Lacey quartz structure. Beguiling.. perfect with scallops, acorn squash and rice pilaf — 3 months ago

Garnet with significant bricking. The nose is all savoury with umami, barbecue meat, and smoke. The palate is again dominated by savoury meatiness. Soy. Very elegant. Classic burgundy - bold and powerful flavours with ethereal weight. — 6 months ago
1995 vintage. Decanted and tasted after two hours. Used a Durand and cork in really good shape. Mix of chunky and powdery sed. Light-medium body. Shed nearly the entirety of the cloaked and oaked juice. Earth. Dust. Minerals. A harmonious leanness to the entire adventure. Can easily hold in this place for a half-decade. 5.24.24. — 8 months ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90min. The 2020 pours a deep ruby/purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of powerful ripe dark and blue fruits: Marionberries, figs, purple flowers, bacon fat, black olives, rocky minerals and soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Young, but this is another lovely vintage of Chave Saint-Joseph. Give it time. Best after 2030 and drink through 2040+. — a day ago
