Bone Rock James Berry Vineyard Syrah Grenache 2013

Exceptional blend. Mostly Syrah but the Grenache shines. Bold red with great depth. Lovely floral nose of violets and berries. Big winner tonight. — a month ago

Bone Rock James Berry Vineyard Syrah 2006

An inky nose with savory notes and an intense purple stony note. Very contained and punchy. cool flavors with intensity. Good balance given the sheer size of the wine — 9 months ago

Reichsrat Von Buhl

Bone Dry Rosé Blend 2020

Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the gothest of them all? It’s either me or this wine. In spirit and/or taste. Dark on the outside perfumed inside. Lives up to being bone dry, if bones can live. Smells like raspberries and pomegranate molasses. with a hint of mint. So light in the mouth, which given its color is a surprise. Then again get one of us mildly goths to open up and we crack a smile. The better to show our custom fangs by my darling. Oh yes so on the palate it treads lightly in weight. Underripe cherries and roses and electricity or is that just the friendly acid giving me a love-zap? — 3 years ago

Produttori del Barbaresco

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best on Day 2. The 2019 pours a pale garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherries, red roses, tangerine, pomegranate, talcum powder, dried sage, truffle, and dried stony earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory. A lovely expression of 2019 Barbaresco. Drink now with patience and through 2049. — 3 months ago

Argetsinger Vineyard Dry Riesling 2017

From my brother’s stash, such a beautiful Finger Lakes Riesling. More German GG than Alsace GC. Nose has bright apple fruit, with a fleeting note of almost ripe peach, green herbs, clover, and a minerality that reminds me a bit of Chablis because of a little brothy note. Perfect balance in the mouth: fruit, acids, minerality, alcohol. Lip-smacking long finish, and bone dry throughout. — 2 years ago

Napa Valley Red Blend 2005

Color is a dark blue-purple. Dark fruit, baked blackberries and cassis are the primary aromas followed by black tea and spice with a lingering touch of eucalyptus. Still tastes a little young with some heat but mouth coating and filling the palate with blackberries, cocoa, leather, and espresso beans. A medium plus jammy finish. Will go well with our New York bone in steaks. — 2 months ago

Navazos-Niepoort Vino Blanco Palomino Fino 2020

Unfortified, aged under flor single vintage and single vineyard Palomino Fino.
Closer to Jura in character than a ‘usual’ solera aged Fino.
Fresh, vibrant, racy. Clearly oxidative with yeasty & chalky notes, dried herbs but also some shy pear. And loads of salt!
On the palate this is crisp, fresh, bone dry and mineral. Powerful yet with nice freshness & balance. Chalky, salty, with some pears wrapped in bacon, olive brine and whiff of chamomile in the long finish.
I was not convinced upon opening and on day 1. The day after this is very, very drinkable. Bring on the tapas!
