Popped and poured into a decanter about 90min prior to service. The 2013 Eclipse pours a deep ruby with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with faint staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with red and black brambles, leather, black pepper and other spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and hard to hate on. Yes, it is an enormous wine and yet, somehow balanced at 16%. To this day, the wines from Noon remain elusive. Drink now through 2028. — 2 years ago
Lamy’s ‘14 a Criot Batard Montrachet is up there as wines of my life so I was very excited to share this bottle with Cerasulo. Started strong with his magic work he does in Saint Aubin. I was anticipating a emotional ride, but the wine evened out and the richness took over the reductive steeliness. Felt out of balance. Delicious, yes! But a walk in heaven. Not so much. — 3 years ago
Italian Sunday with the French part of my family.
Yes this is great stuff. This is a big buttery chardonnay and all about roundness and viscosity with plenty of acidic backbone. I also get a ginger note. Not very mineral but also not flabby. Will improve with further age when the acidic component will integrate further. 95+ — 5 years ago
Kimmeridgian soil yes, Chardonnay no, Chablis no. Full chalk Sauvignon Blanc from the top producer in Sancerre. It is a thing of beauty. Pear, peach and citrus tastes finishing bone dry. This wine is a beauty and will age very well. Only to be surpassed by “les monts damnees” from the same producer. For those of you thinking that Sancerre is a simple glass of wine to be drunk as an apero or with some seafood., get a bottle of this and be blown away. Guess what, it is even affordable but already relatively rare. — 6 years ago
wow exactly what one would hope and expect from sb from s of the equator. Great refresher on a hot day stellar acidity grassiness tart green apple pipi de Chat etc. Buttery fish or soft cheese yes plz — 7 years ago
So much yes!!! Partial skin fermentation (25% of grapes, for 3 months) - notes of local honey, beeswax, chamomile, persimmon, orange peel and spice — 8 years ago
4 bottles within a week. Corks are in trouble they all seeped. Their top bottling in 2009 one barrel made / 60 year old vines / clone no idea? Still quite tannic. Needs 1 hour to open up before that flat/dull. Raspberries, tart cherry, red currant, chalky. Less complicated compared to 5 years ago some bottle variation. My strong advice - drink now (I re-corked 2 for 2029 for science). But honestly this is beyond its prime! OK gains significant elegance and pose after 2 hours of air. So yes still good but tough to figure out - and recommendation still the same drink up! May be folks luck out on the upside. — 4 months ago

I tried my first bottle of this several months ago, and since then it’s really settled down and blossomed. Light color, but the nose pops with perfumey cherry and raspberry, along with subtle notes of moist earth, spice, and sandalwood. In the mouth, it’s got intense flavors in a floaty carriage, with deep red fruit and lots of savory notes. Long finish, with a teensy bit of tannin. Alcohol in check, and enough acidity to keep the intense fruit buoyed up. Superb. If you’re a Grenache hound like me, get some of this. — 4 years ago
yes, this is a photo of a computer image. tasted as part of a Mourvèdre wine group tasting via zoom, wines portioned into woozies. 2018v. super aromatic, raspberry/cranberry juice, fresh leather, violet. palate texture is silky, light but complex and flavorful, acid medium +, long tannins- just a bit of grip. fantastic — 5 years ago
Yes, this is delicious. Best of the night (70s night). Lush. Nose of prunes and sour cherries. Dr Pepper. Mah gawd that palate. Similar, decadent, beautiful, rose. — 7 years ago
Mineral mania! This stinks so good and slaps so hard of smoky flint shaped into a dagger someone rounded the edges off on. It doesn’t cut like a knife but teases the tongue with a sparkling (except it’s not) gleaming sensation cuts then softens then gives one last teasing punch toward the (god help me I’m about to use the term “back palate” I tend to hate dividing my palate) back palate. Oh yes it does. Goddess DAMN that’s good. — 7 years ago

Bottle variation oh yes. Lyle Fass’s version is a tad better upon opening (more tomorrow stay tuned). Did he import these in 2009/10? I am on a mission now. And will taste the E&M‘s up to 2014 over the next months. Tasting these older vintages is always let’s say a “pan” on the Ass. Because I am so worried I will get it wrong. So I try over days. And often pop additional bottles to be sure. And while the 2009‘s E&M are super interesting wines and challenge me like no others - I am holding firm after tasting (a total) of 6 bottles of both the Muschelkalk and the often richer Bundsanstein - these should be consumed in the next 3-6 months. Some bottles might surprise on the upside based on your taste buds but for me <. — 4 months ago
Produced from the "mosto flor" ("free-run juice") of sustainably grown and hand-harvested grapes. Ya means "yes!" in Spain. Straw yellow with good flow of tiny bubbles and light mousse. Stone fruit aromas with a vanilla nut fragrance. On the palate peach and citrus flavors, good balance, plenty of acidity and lingers nicely. — 10 months ago
Y stands for yes and this is indeed a good wine. Not my favorite year for the Ygrec and I will question the $145 I paid - probably closer to a $90 value for me. This is otherwise typical and refreshing but lacks some of the depth of the other vintages. Quite possible I opened it too early and it will evolve - still a few bottles left so we’ll see. — 3 years ago
Bold yet smooth. Contradiction? Yes. Lots of vanillar and star anise. Delicious rip red fruits yet not jammy, like one would think. Fun wine to share only with Zin lovers. Pinot drinks won’t understand — 4 years ago
WNH Zoom tasting #3 on 4/5/20. The theme was “10 years old or more” and I opened this after what I’d call a false start with a ‘96 Dominus Napanook. The cork was a bit soggy and difficult to extract and a sour nose greeted me as I decanted to remove a fair amount of sediment. But once the air hit it this wine spread its wings. It comes off as a hypothetical Volnay/Rioja blend as if there were such a thing. Mature warm red fruit, strong notes of rhubarb, cranberry preserves and sour raspberry mash. Very slight green notes but not in a negative sense. There’s still youthful exuberance here. This isn’t one of those “it’s drinking great for its age” wines it’s straight up exceptional. Great house. Great wine. Hell yes. Happy Bicentennial 🇺🇸🍷 — 6 years ago

Yes it’s dreamy but honestly either this was served too cold or it’s reaching the end of its shelf life. The raisins are faint and the funk is strong—a beautiful amore — 8 years ago
Wow, this is an orange that needs some air, but when its’ aggressive tannins calm down - watch out. After an hour of air and a bit warmer temp, beautiful notes of lily, orange blossom, and stones waft from the glass. The palate is rich, moreso than most oranges I’ve had to this point. As previously mentioned, loads of tannin and a seductively powerful mouthfeel. This is pure joy for the red wine drinker wanting something a tad more refreshing in summer. Surprisingly, this wine paired beautifully with toast with peanut butter and honey (yes, you read that correctly, and yes, I tried it, and yes, it worked.) — 8 years ago
