As someone else noted, a rare bottle of a super rare red grape from Burgundy called “Cesar” (10 hectares in the world) — very dark color, rich, dark fruits, some noticeable structure, this needs 3-5 years aging to settle down, a great “stump your wine friends” wine!! — a year ago

Presented double-blind. Deep ruby color with a slightly watery rim; medium viscosity. No signs of particles or gas. On the nose, dark fruits, plums, cassis, some bell pepper, dry leaf tobacco, earth and some baking spice indicating the use of some barrique, probably French oak. On the palate, creme de cassis, some gravely earth, and baking spices. Medium plus tannin, medium plus acid. This is a very elegant wine. Beautiful, long, gorgeous finish. Likely a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend. The wine was balanced and leaning more towards its structure which took me to the Old World, most likely left bank Bordeaux. Given the characteristics, I was thinking Margaux specifically. So that was my call...likely with 20+ years of age since it seems the tannins were integrating quite nicely. Turns out I got the variety and the Old World part right 😅. What a wine! I didn’t know folks were making stuff like this in Sicilia. This could stump anyone without any prior experience. Killer QPR even at $50. — 4 years ago
