Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2007

Bit mixed on this wine and to be honest super Tuscans in general. This Tig has some serious secondary shoe leather notes at this point. Still has some quite nice fruit and just barely enough acid, but overall was hoping for a bit more verve. — 7 days ago

Solaia Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Breathtaking… as complete and as rounded a Solaia as I have ever had. Great aromatics. The perfume was strong and the dark fruit was full of live but also rich. It was as interesting in the 3rd hour as the first. Fantastic bottle! This is why I love wine… — 25 days ago

Surprisingly no. I was shocked at how developed it was already.

Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Consistent throughout. The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with lovely notes of tart and ripe red and black fruit: Morello cherry, blackberry, black tea, dried green herbs, dry gravelly earth, and theres a little bit of VA too. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and zippy with a very elegant texture. A lovely example of the 2020 vintage. Drink now through 2035. — 19 days ago

They do nice work. One of my go to for CC.

@David T Agreed. In fact, I probably prefer their CC and CCR over Rancia and Fontalorro but all of them are really solid.

Casanova di Neri

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2018

On nose, its warm and ripe fruits there, oak, black cherries, some white pepper. On palate, wine is medium bodied, fruit is still fresh despite of some aging, tannic at the end, and elevated acidity. This still need some time, try it after 2026 if you can hold it. Cheers! — 3 days ago

Castiglion del Bosco

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2017

Remember the scene in Downton Abbey when Lady Mary Crawley has to jump in and save her pigs? That’s this wine. Bold, feisty, rich and strong. Won’t hesitate to get down and dirty when working. Will still have enough energy to cook you an omelette afterwards. I have no fucking clue if I’m making any sense… — 4 days ago

Altesino

Brunello di Montalcino 2019

Grosso! Might be too big if I wasn’t tasting twenty-five other wines. Still, it was quite nice and I would revisit w something tomato. — 15 days ago

Castello di Monsanto

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2019

Medium ruby in color; cherries, tomato leaves, and tabacco on the nose; high acidity; medium tannins; tastes like red currants, raspberries, black paper, dried herbs, and clay pots with a long finish. I love this wine, but Nellie didn'tlike it. — 9 days ago

I feel like this wine always shows well and that’s not taking into account the price.

Tenuta San Guido

Bolgheri Sassicaia Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc 2006

Served alongside beef short rib, xo sauce, pickled mustard seed, cumin stir-fried asparagus. This bottle of 2006 was throwing a ton of sediment. Showing mostly red fruits with red currants, new leather, tobacco, earth, forest floor, baking spices…a touch green. Hello Cabernet Franc!! Good structure. The finish is long. Every time I have the opportunity to enjoy Sassicaia, I am reminded why it’s one of the great wines of Italy. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. Drink now through 2036. — 16 days ago
